As an extension of Gen. David Petraeus’ new and ongoing COIN effort (you’ll remember, Petraeus wrote the book on counterinsurgency, literally); his Multinational Corps-Iraq commander, Lt. Gen. Raymond T. Odierno, has released his ten points of effective counterinsurgency.
Following are the highlights of each point fleshed out here:
-Secure the people where they sleep.
-Give the people justice and honor.
-Integrate civilian and military efforts this is an interagency, combined arms fight.
-Get out and walk move mounted, work dismounted.
-We are in a fight for intelligence all the time.
-Every unit must advise their ISF [Iraqi Security Forces] partners.
-Include ISF in your operations at the lowest possible level.
-Look beyond the IED get the network that placed it.
-Be first with the truth.
-Make the people choose.

Something our politicians would be well to do...but don't.
Ten Points of Immigration Reform:
Build the fence
Deport illegals
Integrate Fed, State, and Local LE in border security
Get out and walk move mounted, work dismounted
We are in a fight for intelligence all the time
Every unit must advise their local LE partners
Include local LE in your operations at the lowest possible level
Look beyond the Illegal Alien get the employers that ignore the law
Be first with the truth
Make the illegals choose to stay out
I will be interested to see if our professional conservative politicians remain on the sideline as they did in 2001 and 2002 during the "Bush knew", "Bush lied" nonsense or will they come to the defense of this fine man.
