“The State Department is about the govts public description of International Information, as they are very happy to state.”
Thanks for the links and info. I’ve got a pretty good handle on what information is and isn’t available.
“I dont understand your comment. Why should the State Department list the US on the Country list? We dont have bilateral relations with ourselves. We dont prepare background notes on the US.”
Ok, then I’ll use your argument. Why is the US listed with OAS at all? Are we confused about who we do relations with?
I might not be the brightest bulb amongst the group but why would it be necessary to link back to itself from state.gov's page? Wouldn't it be better to see how we are represented from other countries and other entities.
We didn't need to search out the State's webpage to see 12 million (+/-) illegals are trying to dissolve America as we knew it.
“You are stressing out about the OAS? Good grief man! If this is the first time that you have heard of the OAS then you are in need of an education.”
Not at all. This was more of an informative post for those that still don’t see the bigger picture and the real “moonbats” that think the Amnesty bill is some sort of feint manuever or diversion. I’m as calm as could be. I’ve been aware of this for a long time.
You see it too! Amnistía! It is written right there where everyone could see it!
The US is a member of OAS. From the site, "As a member of the OAS, the United States is committed to strengthening and working with the organization. This reflects the U.S. Government's determination to make optimal use of multilateral diplomacy to resolve regional problems and to engage its neighbors on topics of hemispheric concern."
You don't seem to understand the role of the State Department. As someone who has worked in the State Department for 28 years, I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.
“This is the site for the Department of State, which to my knowledge deals with foreign affairs, its not a site to learn about the United States of America.”
See post 15, and hopefully you’ll learn something.
“We didn’t need to search out the State’s webpage to see 12 million (+/-) illegals are trying to dissolve America as we knew it.”
For some, it will flip the light. I could have picked 20 other scenarios depending on the “crowd”.
Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
The state dept mission is for relationships with other countries.
I fail to understand the nature of the problem that was posted that the state dept doesn't list ourselves as a relationship
Pretty much falls into the Huh??? category

Well good, maybe I can learn something from you. Please answer my question using your argument.
Agree.
What is your question?
“Ok, then Ill use your argument. Why is the US listed with OAS at all? Are we confused about who we do relations with?”
1st Question in post 42. Are you reading anything...or just yapping at the jaws. You’ve got 28 years under your belt, so I want to learn from you.
Maybe you should have passed out little pamphlets to explain the irony : )
“P.S. In support of your idea that this links in with amnesty and the weakening of sovereignty, the website does advertise a Spanish version.”
As a follow-up, and this thread will prove why we are where we are and with near certainty, where we are going...not to return. Too far gone? Probably.
Cliff notes, the rude one’s didn’t even read the last paragraph in red.
The State Department web site does have a section titled U.S. Life, Culture and History, and many policy statements are published in Current Issues. Perhaps those links contain the information you're searching for.
Well, I appreciate the time it took you to put that together. :>)
LOL, a diplomat you ain't, newbie.
Why is the US listed with OAS at all?
Because we are a member of OAS. Check out the first link I provided you in post #50. It describes our mission to the OAS and its history. "OAS was established April 14, 1890, as the International Union of American Republics. Became the Pan American Union in 1910, then the Organization of American States in 1948 with the adoption of the OAS Charter in Bogotá, Colombia." Also check out the second link, which is the official OAS website. Check out the mission of OAS and what its functions are.
Are we confused about who we do relations with?
No, are you? OAS is an international organization similar to NATO, the UN, etc. We are members of these multilateral organizations and have permanent representation with them. The only confusion seems to rest with you.
