Iran Nearing The Tipping Point? ( Mullahs in crackdown on dissent )
Captain's Quarters ^ | June 16, 2007 | Ed Morrissey

The mullahcracy in Iran has apparently unleashed its latent paranoia, resulting in a crackdown on dissent not seen since the 1979 Revolution. The Iranian government has moved to quell academic debate, silence citizen groups, purge their internal security systems, and generally tighten the screws on the Iranian people:

Iran is in the midst of a sweeping crackdown that both Iranians and U.S. analysts compare to a cultural revolution in its attempt to steer the oil-rich theocracy back to the rigid strictures of the 1979 revolution.

The recent detentions of Iranian American dual nationals are only a small part of a campaign that includes arrests, interrogations, intimidation and harassment of thousands of Iranians as well as purges of academics and new censorship codes for the media. Hundreds of Iranians have been detained and interrogated, including a top Iranian official, according to Iranian and international human rights groups. ...

The widespread purges and arrests are expected to have an impact on parliamentary elections next year and the presidential contest in 2009, either discouraging or preventing reformers from running against the current crop of hard-liners who dominate all branches of government, Iranian and U.S. analysts say. The elections are one of several motives behind the crackdowns, they add.

Public signs of discontent -- such as students booing President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on a campus last December, teacher protests in March over low wages and workers demonstrating on May Day -- are also behind the detentions, according to Iranian sources.

"The current crackdown is a way to instill fear in the population in order to discourage them from future political agitation as the economic situation begins to deteriorate," said Karim Sadjadpour of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Jorge did a terrible job on shrinking government as well, and on general communication skills.

The aim speaks for itself, no further comment needed.

But.... in part, they are too old or too young and their testoterone gets in the way of working together.

Not quite carpet bombing but close.

A bombing of the 5,000 or so pre-recognized targets would burst the dam of suppression once and for all. Then the flow could start again in some form or fashion.

And the inevitable result (in their eyes) of an Islamic Caliphate ruling the world.<<<

Lots of proof that they are working toward their goal.

But........but.........but......I’m so confused! Our leaders keep telling us that it is a “religion of peace!” A “religion of peace” would not do such things............would it?!?!?!?!?!? (sarc off)

Unfortunately, it’s been nearing a tipping point for 6 centuries.

A massive air drop of pre-loaded ipods and Go Phones over Tehran should do the trick.

I-Pods are way too fragile. Most would probably not survive a chute deployement or landing.

During WWII we air-dropped into France packages that contained small, stamped, single-shot .45 pistols that came with 4-5 rounds of ammo in the butt. They also came with short-wave radios that were powered by a hand-crank like todays "survival" radios.

If revolution is to happen in Iran, that is what they need instead of I-Pods. A palm-sized pistol that you can stick in a guys gut. Once he is down you trade up to whatever weapon he has on him.

If every cop or mullah in Iran has to to fear being shot in the face when he stops to harrass you about the hem of your skirt, or the length of your beard, then change will occur.

The means to resist is required.

It will amount to nothing unless enough Iranians are willing to risk their possessions and their lives to uproot the mullahs. So far we haven’t seen that. And since the mullahs are in firm control of the military, the near-term prospects don’t look too good.

Good comments. Short wave radios or satellite phones linked to repeater towers cross the border in Dubai or Afghanistan or both.

One shot .45 or .40 caliber also great idea for reasons you stated. Smaller .40 caliber good for women.

Absolutely essential for serious psyop interference are small Israeli tv trasmitters that can cut into normal TV channels and others for local radio. Can’t be dropped easily and requires preselected recipients.

Interference with TV and radio broadcasts, not just internal jamming but also showing brief TV programs on regular channels will disconcert and make the regime seem weak and futile.

I am working on action templates. Please Email me ideas and suggestions at antimullah@hotmail.com

Well, I was be facetious, to an extent. Still, just the thought of thousands of those suckers raining down on Tehran would send the Mullahs into hyper drive trying to confiscate them. In the meantime, sure, give the resistors these to inflict some single shot pain and death of their own like you suggest:
