Politicians still amaze me ... I don't know why. What is so hard about adhering to the Rule Of Law. Enforce the statutes currently on the books. Fund the statutes currently on the books. This current piece of tripe (in what ever form) up for consideration, S. 1348, is amnesty contrary to all protestations (by Teddy and Dirty Harry and Lindsey Shamnesty, et al) that it is not. Amnesty is a gift which should never be equated with wrong doing. If paying a fine were sufficient then murders and rapists and other felons would pay a fine and receive amnesty, being forgiven for breaking the law. The violation of our sovereignty is a serious offense and should not be treated so cavalierly as to grant amnesty and wiping a record clean. This bill does wipe the record clean as there is no impediment to gaining temporary then full status ... naturalization.
