The question is no longer "when" or "why" but, "how" do we impeach and convict this traitor?

It's a difficult thing to admit that the organization you work for, support, and "feel good about" has made a mistake. As a homeschooling family, we deal with this all the time. Teachers in the public system must come to terms that our numbers indicate a problem with what they've chosen as a career to support. They have the same reaction that you did.
Since you've revealed that you work for and support SOUTHCOM, I don't expect you to understand or agree. You could always buck the system and admit that you're just working for hard cold cash and that even though a bad decision was made, you're just in it for the money. There's certainly no shame in that, and at least it would be an honest answer. But to qualify your answer with the statement that you "work for SOUTHCOM" doesn't mean anything to me. I've worked for DIA, DISA, AFLC/AFMC, AFIWC, USAFE, and AFINCC, but that doesn't add up to much. I could have been the "Chief Cook and Bottle Washer" for all you know. ...as well you could be too.

The difference is spending 10 dollars per person down there, versus 10,000 - 100,000 (at least) per person on all the services received up here. A ship that's as long as three football fields, equipped with a helicopter landing pad, the ability to take on patients from the sea, WITH 500-plus military and civilian crew and staff, spending three months on a 12-nation tour cannot be cheap.
Add the operating costs of that PLUS medical care and supplies for the people they treat (which I doubt is ten bucks per person) and it has to be alot of money. I hardly think it's saving much, if any. And again, close the borders, and we won't have to spend money on non citizens over there to keep them from over here.

In closing, have you any arguments other than ad hominum?

The same could be said about your perspective as a home schooling parent, and that you don’t have the vaguest idea as to the means and methodologies of theater security cooperation and theater security.
You may want to view my profile and get a better idea as to what I do.
You should probably stick to commenting on things about which you have Knowledge as opposed to blathering ill-informed opinion.

Well, they DO have to stay in Mexico to visit the ship.
To: Lijahsbubbe
I’m not saying that the operating expenses of the ship are cheap - probably on the order of $10M. however, when you divide the OP cost by # of likely people served, the cost per person goes way down.
Also, I’m very much in favor of closing the borders. However, we still have to engage folks in their countries and not concede them to Chavez and China - which is more to the point of the mission.

You could be a second grade girl for all I know. As before, your profile page means no more to me than your claims of where you work. The same can be said of me from your perspective though, so try not to take it personally. There is very little "association" here between who we really are and I only "know" half a dozen outside of FR their screen names. I plan on keeping it that way for the most part.
You haven't really gotten my opinion yet. You only believe you have. That's O.K. though.
Can we please drop this? I vowed not to start any more personal pissing matches here on FR, and I've obviously struck a nerve with you....whoever you are. Please don't be offended when I don't write back after this. It won't be personal I can assure you.

If you don't mind terribly much, please go back through the thread and review where this pleasant little interchange between you and I started.
You're the one that "poked". I'm the one that poked back. I don't know who you are and never asked what you thought. I was swapping info with Squantos. For reasons yet unknown, you just couldn't supress the urge to tell me what you thought.
While I appreciate your need to express yourself to me, maybe you should remember that if
you poke, somebody else will poke back. Especially the next time you offer your unsolicited opinion to a stranger you know less than nothing about.

If these folks dont get these services in their native country, whats the liklihood of them heading up to the good ole US of A, and becoming long-term illegals - exponentially increasing the long term cost to same US of A. As long as you believe what your saying ........

Well being a wife of one of those men on the ship i have to say that you are being completely close minded. The men and women on that ship are doing there part to help others in need. Maybe you should think about them and what you have as you are at home with you family and friends.
