>> Here's a list of the Dem's who voted for the Bill. If you are a constituent (or know the contact info) please email/call/fax your approval and thanks! <<
>> “Holy crap. 50 democrats. Hopefully this is an indicator of how the House will vote on Bush’s Immigration bill.” Now, how many of those Democrats are blue dogs? The DNC may have opened Pandoras box and has no clue how to close it. <<
>> Certain blue dog Democrats that ran against amnesty are starting to get scared with their seats up next year and the Republicans they defeated ready to tell the constituents they lied about amnesty, and most Republicans in the House were solid to begin with. <<
>> The Blue Dogs are now likely to betray the Dims about as often as the RINOs betray us. And if Pelosi cracks the whip very hard, she'll end up Minority Leader in 2009 instead of Speaker. <<

Using The Blitherer's link, I have now complied a list of how FRESHMEN members of Congress voted on this bill. The nice thing is that every single one of them cast a vote on this one, so we know exactly where they stand. We can now determine once and for all if all the scary immigration hardliners in Congress that retired or were defeated got replaced with more "Hispanic friendly" candidates as the open-borders crowd on FR has alleged.

So, for your reading pleasure, here are the numbers:

VOTED PRESENT OR MISSED VOTE
None

Well, well, well. Even though the new freshman class has an extreme lopsided number of Democrats (due to the election results flipping Congress to Speaker Pelosi), a huge number of them crossed sides to vote with the GOP on this bill, so much that freshmen class voted IN FAVOR of the bill by a huge margin over the freshmen members voting NAY.

The few "radical" anti-illegal alien Congressmen that were defeated last year (J.D. Hayworth, etc.) appear to have been replaced with Dems that are just as equally pro-Tancredo on the immigration issue. And you will note that while many Dems crossed over to the GOP side on this issue, not a SINGLE freshman Republican voted with the RATs. Contrary to what the open borders crowd claimed on FR, quite a few of the newly elected Republicans (Roskam, Walberg, Buchanan, Bachmann, etc.) faced VERY close races and tough opponents, and were elected while openly running on an anti-illegal alien platform. You will also note that most of the newly-elected Dems who faced very close races in "swing" districts voted with Tancredo on this one, such as all three newly elected Indiana Democrats, and both Arizona Democrats. Almost all the freshmen Congress-critters voting "NAY" are in extremely safe, urban socialist RAT districts (Ellison, Clarke, Cythnia McKinney's replacement Hank Johnson, etc.), and I'm willing to beat that the few Democrats in swing districts that voted NAY on this one will go down in history as "one term flukes" after the 2008 election (Paul Hodes, I'm looking in your direction)

Perhaps the open borders crowd on FR would like to explain how a Democrat controlled House passed such a "radical, anti-hispanic, xenophobic, mexican-bashing" Tancredo-authored bill if their propaganda that "every candidate who ran on an anti-immigrant platform in a contested race was defeated last year" is true.

Anytime, guys. Really. Feel free to explain how this is such a "losing" issue.

Haven’t seen Dane around. Was he/she flushed from the site a few months ago? Must have been, that once could never resist trying to assert Americans without borders was popular with U.S. citizens.

I’d love to hear Dane’s reaction about this one. Almost as badly as I want to see The Beltway Boys get stunned again by having this bill die in the Senate.

A lot of the open borders crowd is gone though. They got exposed as the liberals they were, we all know their names without having to even say them. Terri, Miers, borders. Every single issue they were on the opposing side. Yet they were the REAL conservatives.
