I Want My GoreTV: MTV Launches New Global Warming Alarmism Campaign Posted by Noel Sheppard on June 15, 2007 - 14:45.
Just in case our kids werent getting enough global warming alarmism from their teachers and the mainstream media, MTV announced Wednesday that it will be further brainwashing youth with junk science about the planets imminent doom.
How might that change Mark Knopflers fabulous Money For Nothing lyrics and video?
Before we get to that, heres how Variety reported this announcement (h/t Tim Graham, emphasis added throughout):
Following its Staying Alive Aids campaign, MTV Networks International Wednesday unveiled its latest public service onslaught.
MTV Switch hopes to persuade the world's youth to cut their carbon emissions and help save the planet by launching an initiative aimed at "slowing the acceleration of global warming."
The campaign, backed by such celebrities as Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Good Charlotte, Enrique Iglesias, Shaggy and Rufus Wainwright, hopes to reach a potential audience of 1.5 billion people.
Yep. Thats what the planet needs 1.5 billion people brainwashed with junk science:
MTV Networks topper Bill Roedy said: "We are facing a tipping point on climate change and we need to act now.
Hmmm. Didnt the G-8 just push this tipping point out to 2050? Regardless, the article outlined the brainwashing strategy:
Initiative will bow Thursday on 55 MTV channels in 162 countries plus 44 online and 16 mobile offerings.
MTV said that more than 25 third-party broadcasters have agreed to air the campaign. They include Community Channel (U.K.), RTP (Portugal), ERT (Greece), UJRT (Serbia), LBC (Lebanon), Metro TV (Indonesia), ITV (Tanzania) and TV6 (Trinidad).
Amazing. I guess if Knopfler and the gang redid their hit today, the lyrics would be:
I want my, I want my GoreTV
I want my, I want my GoreTV
Now look at them Gore-bots, thats how you construe it You put junk science on the MTV That aint honest, thats how you construe it Baloney for nothin, carbon credits for free
Now that aint honest, thats how you construe it Lemme tell ya, they think were dumb Maybe get you to buy a Toyota Prius Maybe preach Kyoto til youre numb
We gotta expose skeptical covens Disaccustom dissent decrees We gotta woo these educators We gotta woo these folks on TV.
I guess you can make this stuff up. :-)
I’m never watching MTV again! /sarc
The field of quantum mechanics suffered a great loss when these people chose entertainment careers.
What carbon emissions? Do 12 year olds drive cars? Fly jets on a regular basis? Ok, maybe one of the Hilton/Hollywood kids fly to get their coke, but what carbon emissions do kids produce? Oh I get it, the libs want them to stop breathing.
MTV (Empty-V)...They destroyed music now they want to destroy science.
so whatever happened to goreTV anyway? ... it boggles my mind to think of all the $$$ sunk into stupid, leftist ventures, and just private funds at that ... they must really like their ideas
So, al, how’s your Antarctica Globull warming concert plans going that nobody can get to because it’s THE MIDDLE OF THE FRICKIN ARCTIC WINTER?
Here in New York city it was 55 degrees this morning, right now it is 71. Yesterday the same thing, although it felt colder yesterday morning, about 40 degrees. And we are two weeks away from July.
If global warming keeps up like this I`m going to have to break out my winter coat again and my wife is going to have to wear her bunny fur coat that she purposely wears to tick off liberals. Actually it`s fake because we ain`t that rich, but she tells them it`s baby bunny fur “Isn`t it soft?” or kitten fur, whatever will piss them off the most.
I didn’t think anyone still watched MTV. Let them do what they want. Probably all of 10 people will see it.
Call me crazy but I would swear he is drunk in that pic. He looks just like every hardcore alcoholic I`ve ever seen.
He’s drunk on power. He’s always angry about something. Rock music, Saddam Hussein, Global Warming.
But then he drops the issue and moves on to something else. And he flip flops.
Rock music was bad but now it is doing “good things” and it doesn’t matter if an artist has released records with dirty words now and then as long as (s)he participates in the “right” causes.
Saddam Hussein was a terror in 1992 when Gore ran against Bush41 but now Gore says that Bush43 played on our fears and led us to a wrongful war with Iraq to topple Saddam.
So now we must fear man made global warming.
Whatever, Al. You don’t care about anything but being on the stage.
That's the almost translucent, puffy, round and reddish face of alcoholic bloat.
When MTV did a campaign to talk young viewers into being scared of private social security accounts, and of Bush drafting them into the military, they betrayed their young audience for a political idiology.
He also flip flopped about global warming as well didn`t he? If I recall, when he first became VP, he was non-stop about the ozone layer, how it was going to give skin cancer to everybody and it was the greatest envoirnmental danger of all. Now he dropped the ozone layer and is now into this newest hoax, Gorebull warming. So I guess this means the ozone layer has healed itself and Gorebull warming is a recent thing that has just occurred, otherwise Gore SURELY would have mentioned it in the early `90`s!
Just unreal pathetic pandering, the worst case being Gore and his infamous "crotch shot" trying to look like a homeboy. Real nice, Gore jutting his Johnson into the faces of minors. Wonder how many socks he shoved down there....
Clearly MTV should voluntarily go off the air. Then anyone who would have watched and instead has the TV off would be more eco-friendly.
MTV was actually interrupting programming with “emergency” announcements about the “pending draft” (no mention that ALL draft legislation was sponsored by the Democrats).
They claim that the controversy over the 2000 election left them with no time to coordinate a party. Right. Plan the party regardless of the winner.
And what of 2004?
Answer is the wrong party won.
