(I think everyone knows there is no way "one coat" coverage will really cover a lighter color over a darker color.)

You are right about that! I paid twice as much as I needed to in order to get "Valspar", which is supposed to be really good one coat paint. Yeah, right. As it turned out, it took, in some places, THREE coats to cover yellow over white. My fairly small utility room took almost 2 gallons of paint. When I painted the half bath I used Olympic, which is half the cost and I almost think it went on better than the Valspar.

Are you changing linens and accessories in your guest room so that you feel free to paint the walls whatever suits your fancy?

Well, no. I wish I could, but I have a sandy/peach colored ceiling fan that I need to consider, and a quilt that has country green, peach, beige and terra cotta in it. I am thinking that I will go with a boring beige and maybe a tone darker color for one of the walls. I don't know, I am having a hard time deciding. The carpet is deep green and all of the trim/moldings/doors and the plantation blinds in the room are white, so I wish I had the courage to use bright or dark colors on my walls. It would really make the white trim stand out, but I am just so afraid I won't like it. I'm inclined to go with very pale pastels because it is safer.

Your khaki colored dining room does sound very pretty. See, I need to be more adventurous, like you, and not be afraid to use color. :-(

Your story about your first painting project is funny. Paint always goes on brighter than you think it will, and yellow is definitely a color you don't want to overdo. Your experience with your "screaming" yellow bathroom painting results is what I am hoping to avoid in my guest room. LOL.

And, dontcha love the paint color names? My half bath is painted "Moroccan Moonlight". Does that give you any clue as to what that color would be? LOL. Any my utility room is a lovely shade of "Champagne Dance". Are there actually people who have a job coming up with these names? LOL

I'm one of the three individuals in this world who has never watched Idol but if talent like this is what is offered, I might just tune in.

We have watched the last three seasons of American Idol and have enjoyed it, especially after they have gotten down to the final 12 contestants, but I have to say, I have never seen anyone on AI as impressive as Paul Potts.
