Activists chastised Denver's City Council on Monday for dropping a proclamation that would have reaffirmed First Amendment rights and limited police response during the 2008 Democratic National Convention.
"Who do members of the City Council represent?" asked Re-create 68 official Mark Cohen outside council chambers. "The people of Denver, or the fat cats who are paying for the big party called the Democratic National Convention?"
Cohen made his remarks to camera crews and reporters, who outnumbered the group of 10 protesters. The proclamation in question was one Cohen helped craft, and the outcome of Re-create 68's attempt to pass it through the council generated controversy last week.
City Council President Mi chael Hancock spiked the proclamation Wednesday, citing a lack of council support and concerns from civic and business leaders who balked at the notion that members of Re-create 68 helped craft the proclamation.
Protesters said both national conventions in 2004 excluded demonstrators by keeping them behind barbed-wire-topped fences, out of sight and sound of delegates. They want better access in Denver.

I’m all for re-creating 68. Maybe I’m hazy been didn’t the Democrats lose?
Good point. I also think the Dems will be all butt-hurt to find loonies to the left of themselves; none of them would have dreamed that possible. Great disillusionment in store.
These dorkasauruses lose on all four of these grounds, at minimum. Give 'em one, count it, ONE warning, then throw away the key when they ignore the warning. No bail, no ror, and the speediest damned trial the state of Colorado has ever seen, followed by 10 years apiece, full clock, in one or another of Colorado's fine graybar hotels.
Yep. It was definitely no landslide in the popular vote, but Nixon won decisively in the Electoral College with 301 electoral votes to Humphrey's 191. Third party Democrat-Racist (pardon the redundancy) George Wallace got 46 electoral votes.
Popular vote: Nixon 43.2%, Humphrey 42.6% (separated by a little less than 1 million votes out of 73 million cast), Wallace 12.9%, Other 1.3%.
Bear in mind this followed a Democrat landslide for LBJ in '64. So even though Nixon's win was not huge, it was a huge turn around.
This “1968” echo has been bandied around alot this week, particularly by the left. I see many more parallels to 1975 OR 1979, hope it’s more the latter.
Impressive website. I wish them well. Yeah, disrupt the Dem Convention.
Let’s all support them with moral support if not financial support. I’d love to see the Looney-Left Libs disrupt the Dems Convention and Coronation of Hillary and Osama.
The crazy Dems have been trying to do this since 2003. Their anti-war schtick is almost all nostalgia on the part of the old hippies, and "wished I coulda been there" on the part of their new acolytes.
Not to worry. This is profitable stuff. I read recently that the nimrods that destroyed half of Seattle during the WTO meeting just got compensated handsomely for the indignity of having been arrested. They sued the city and won. (They came here from all over the country. Now they can afford to travel to Denver in style.)
Ancestors of FReepers or Protestwarriors?
Interesting website. It’s amazing that just when our Republican/conservative side is all embroiled in some issue, along comes the looney left to make us look like normal, rational folks who’re just having a discussion.
Oh Wow. Thanks for the link. I had been considering protesting the convention but I think I’ll stay as far away as possible and let these morons do their worst.
It is amazing :
the looney left to make us look like normal, rational folks whore just having a discussion.
That site is funny.
They will hang themselves ?
Shhhhhh don't tell them.
