R&S have been such sycophants it’s not even funny.
He has been ambiguous, I think, but close listeners of his show (like us) realize he didn't show up and just sent a taped speech. Personally, I think that was bad form. Either turn down the award and not go, or accept the award and go make a speech.
Truth is Savage has alienated himself from the rest of the pack. In itself, not a bad thing, and it's a side-effect of one of the reasons we all like him. Still, it's pretty obvious that CSPAN didn't want to air a bunch of people looking at a videotape 15 + minute speech. Indeed, I'd love to see the speech, but I would have made the same call to not air a room of people watching a screen of a guy giving a speech.
After the event, the Leprechaun probably would’ve decked him, and then Levin would’ve added his own choice body slam him while his buddy the Wallbanger would’ve stood by and politely cackled.
Savage has an intellectual complexity that R&S cannot even hope to mimic.
In between Savage’s professional intellectual achievements and his spiritual insights (which I do NOT agree with, all of the time, BTW), he is contantly surprising me with his comments.
The whale stories today are good examples of that.

I saw a real good foreign film the other day, Pan’s Labyrithn its in Spanish and takes place during the Spanish civil war (30’s). very good movie. NOw I had some interest in the spanish civil war but I vaguely remember things about it, wasnt Franco just a fascist, he was fighting commies, some so-called americans supported the commies and fought in the Lincoln Brigade, I remeber that part because I think the liberals in 90’s gave some of those guys pardons I think I seen a documentary where they tried to paint them in a good light...anyway that isn’t the gist of the movie just my rambling

You’re right, but the accolade is nice just the same. Flying to NY, having to mingle, schmooze... meet alot of people who hate you anyway : I think it was an easy call for him to not show up.
