Not good enough. Who knows what would be done with the money. Build the fence and then we will talk.

Thank you Georgia Senators....falling on the deaf ears of our President.....I really like GW in so many others ways, but his stand on immigration is a frustration for me.

...the message from a majority of Georgians is that they have no trust that the United States Government will enforce the laws contained in this new legislation and secure the border first. This lack of trust is rooted in the mistakes made in 1986 and the continued chaos surrounding our immigration laws.

BINGO. Thanks for the post.

Oops; forgot to tell you thanks for the post. It is nice to know some Senators are taking a stand....unlike mine (Lugar)

as well as any outstanding existing authorizations.

Does this include the Hunter fence? If not, no deal.

As someone pointed out to me yesterday, this part of the statement:

“contained in legislation currently pending in the Senate”...

is problematic. I do think they’re both backing off, however.

“To that end, we believe that you and your administration could alleviate many of the fears of our constituents...” Those are the weenie words. Not “secure the border first,” but “throw some crumbs to the dumb peons who are complaining.” These guys are just trying to cover their own butts and trying to explain their own votes. Someone’s staffer is too clever by half.

So far, my tires have not been slashed as I ride around with my “Stop Illegal Immigration” and “Secure Our Borders” bumper stickers through areas thick with illegals. I’ll be adding “Can You Afford Another Anchor Baby?” to the window shortly.

To that end, we believe that you and your administration could alleviate many of the fears of our constituents by calling for an emergency supplemental bill to fully fund the border and interior security initiatives contained in legislation currently pending in the Senate, as well as any outstanding existing authorizations. Such a move would show your commitment to securing the border first and to stopping the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs into our nation.

All of which doesn't mean squat, just build the damn fence, and start jailing the non farm workers and the people that hire them.

Not mentioned are other small items like dirty bombs, suitcase nukes, poison gas cannisters etc. It's a question of when (not if) a terrorist attack happens from across the wide open borders.

They still don't get it. The government needs to be output-oriented - i.e., we want to see RESULTS - input (i.e., funding) means nothing until it is implemented properly.

They have already changed their minds. The bill may be palatable to them now....if enough pork is attached.

You failed to bold the most important aspect of this, and it's very telling. Emergency supplemental bills cannot be filibustered, I understand, and in this instance, one is being sought to fund that stinking fraud that is currently in the Senate.

Excuse me, but they didn't get the message. Read this message more carefully.

All they said was they wanted to "...alleviate many of the fears of our constituents by calling for an emergency supplemental bill to fully fund the border and interior security initiatives contained in legislation currently pending in the Senate, as well as any outstanding existing authorizations."

In other words, they still believe in this legislation. This is email equivalent of Saxby and Johnny urinating on your leg and trying to tell you that it is raining.

Notice that they aren't talking about funding existing border security...only about funding the comprehensive immigration bill's security initiatives in advance to make us think they will actually do what they say.

I don't buy it. Supplemental funding to rapidly increase enforcement of existing law would be fine, but this looks like bait to get us to swallow the big hook.
