It's not accurate at all. No "social securities" were stolen. Social security numbers were stolen not the accounts themselves.
If someone steals your bank account number and deposits cash in it, it's still fraud, but not a theft of your account.

And stealing a SS number is akin to stealing someone’s identity so you seem to be quibbling over quibbles.
