Special to the Green Valley News
It is 10:22 p.m. on Thursday night. It is beautiful, still, starlit, yet we feel uneasy and guarded. My husband, Lloyd, and I are doing a search of our property. We have once again been alerted to the presence of trespassers.
Our neighbor has called to alert us because his childrens nanny is alone and frightened by the four illegal aliens who are lurking on his property.
I already know something is amiss, having been cued by the incessant barking and agitation exhibited by our three dogs. All too soon the alarm will be sounding 4:50 a.m. and time to start another workday, but we know from experience these interlopers cannot be ignored.
We are neither young nor strong as our adversaries tend to be, but we are determined to protect the property we have loved for 18 years.
You may have read Green Valley News editor James Bennetts account of our last encounter with illegals who were so brazen as to enter our home while we were away at work.
Lloyd discovered them sitting in our living room as he set down the mail and glanced up in time to see them rise and approach him. He was by design armed and held them for the sheriff.
As a nation we have made it abundantly clear that there is no penalty for violating our sovereignty, so why not take it to the next level and violate our homes?
We moved to Elephant Head in 1989, seeking the solitude, peace, and privacy this area offered.
Nowadays, when I arrive home, I cant carry in the groceries, or the mail, or stop to pet the burro. I carry my keys in one hand and my firearm in the other. I turn on lights and do a sweep of the house before I feel safe to do anything else.
I often wonder how many of you open-borders advocates would be up to that scenario every time you enter your home. Some of the invaders are fortified by food, water, maps, and the other support and succor you provide. You are aiding and abetting their felonious acts and share responsibility for them. I know your behavior is illegal and believe it is immoral.
If you feel so strongly about providing for those who have stomped all over our laws, why not publish your addresses in a directory of sanctuary houses, mark your doorstep, and invite them in. No need for a key - they came through my pet door.
And by the way Im sure your neighbors will appreciate your guests in the community. Maybe a GVR membership would be a nice touch.
I know that some of you feel sympathy and compassion for those that trespass through our property, sometimes stopping to leave trash, mangle our irrigation, or terrify our pets.
It may seem that you are immune to this travesty and that your righteousness comes without pain. You ignore the exponential increase in violent deaths occurring in and around Green Valley. You do so at your own peril, and worse at the expense of this countrys very survival.
I hope that some of you will start paying attention to the damage done to our community, our culture, and our country before it is too late.
That time is dangerously near with the recent unveiling of the Amnesty Agreement formulated by Congress and the president. With the stroke of a pen at least 20,000,000 trespassers become legal - eligible for food stamps, education, health-care, in-state tuition, earned income tax credit, affirmative action coverage, WIC, SSI, legal defense, ad infinitum.
Presto! Members of notorious killer gangs become legal. Drug dealers and coyotes - legal. This bill of over 1,000 pages is being crafted in secret and without benefit of committee hearings. Both parties are rushing to shove it down our throats before details become public. We are being assured that the border will magically become secure, those who have stolen our SS numbers (a felony) will repent, and all the illegals living in the shadows, (what a joke) will pour forth pledging allegiance and paying large fines.
We owe it to our children and theirs to fight for the legacy of this country. Call, write, or e-mail your senators and congresswoman and tell them you are enraged about their flagrant disregard of the oath they all took to protect and defend this country and its citizens. Remind them for whom they work. As of this date, all those who represent us are aligned with this abomination. Tell them you want the wall built, the border secured, and the interests of American citizens made paramount.
The loss of my personal sanctuary may be of little importance to some, but yours is destined to be next.
Sherry Brown lives in Elephant Head with her husband, Lloyd, and their many animals. They have lived on the property for 18 years.
They ought to find a way to legally place some landmines.
Read Camp of the Saints. I just did. It will make you even madder.

Sadly, I guess if the Shamnesty and open border folks win, we will be transformed into a country with each homeowner near the border turning his home into an armed camp, with razor wire, lighting etc. WE will become the prisoners.
But, these are good Christian people who just want a good life for their families........family values don’t stop at the border..........doing work Americans won’t do.......if we don’t let them work, they and their families will starve.............blah!
They don’t respect our laws nor, do We enforce them......a 1000 pages of new laws won’t change a thing!
You should understand that the Elephant Head region she is talking about is some 30 miles north of the border. From her site to the border itself ranchers have had their fences cut, their cattle run-off, their very lives threatened. A few days ago a rancher hearing a gun-battle on his property called the Sheriff’s office and urged it to investigate. When public safety didn’t show up (and never did) he called the Border Patrol. They never appeared. Unless you have lived some time in the region you just can’t comprehend how badly the system is broken, how corrupt the public safety officials and the Border Patrol really are. The Justice Department doesn’t dare investigate the problem in Arizona; the scandal would be too enlightening.
Bump.
The only illegal aliens I want on my doorstep are from Proxima Centauri...
:-P

No, they’re demanding the master suite with turn down service and a mint on their pillow.
If I found strangers in my home like that, I’d have to call the Sheriff to come and pick up the bodies that resulted from a home invasion.
