You are coming from the wrong assumption: You assume they can't because -- to buy the hype line -- the system is broken.
The real issue is: They don't have the want to -- they have not tried real enforcement and the Bush Admin has kept the border wide open. Look at the National Guard farce from last year. If they had wanted to stop the illegal traffic, they could have put more effort. But they don't want to. And nothing in this new bill gives them the want to, either. It is a farce. Enforcement has been a farce since Kennedy's 1965 bill.

TomGuy, I am not saying that the laws are enforced well. I am asking how it will be better if we make it bigger?
So why wouldn’t a substantial welfare and health care reform act make the illegal immigration problem more manageable?
