Tony Snow is about to appear live on FOX & Friends on FOX News. The subject is Bush's push for immigration "reform".
Interesting points and post. Thanks.
Does anyone know Tony from his radio show? Would he have been for this bill prior to going to his current job?
He’s not lying... trust me.
We used to have a live FR thread every day for Tony’s show before he went to the White House- and Tony was a definite supporter of the ideas in the bill- we used to have some strenuous debates with him about it.
The guys from the Assoc. Of Retired Border Patrol who were shown on C-SPAN a couple weeks back said that back when enforcement raids were more common, they stuck to medium and large businesses, not to companies with a handful of employees and less than 5 illegals.
Especially when the people you hire are not allowed to do their jobs for threat of finding themselves in prison. Having ten million guards at the border isn't worth sh*t if they can't stop anyone from crossing.
People seem to miss the word illegal. The end doesn’t justify the means.
It’s a horrible bill, period. It’s not like we don’t have previous bills and outcomes to look at... people choose to ignore them and say (once again), this time will be different.
I live in a place where I see first hand what’s going on and I talk to legal and illegal many times daily. I was also in New Mexico, CA and Florida. A lot of folks have no idea.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
It’s on.....the fight to ther finish
The AMNESTY Bill lives...
It needs a stake through it’s heart to render it harmless...
Until that moment no law-abiding American citizen tax-payer is safe....
Do you remember what Tony called the amnesty bill opposition?
There was a quote on one of the threads where Tony was calling the opposition un-American or un-conservative for not supporting amnesty.
What shall we do? I’m done with the phone calls.
“Over time, illegal immigrants would have to pay fines and fees of more than $9,000 “
The “Over time” phrase is the killer. I predict they will either stay illegal, or if they get their Zvisa they won’t pay the fine and will remain in eternal limbo, until the Zvisa amnesty.
How hard is this to figure out?
Heck, he can't help himself you know. That's a lot like his infamous compassionate conservatism campaign slogan. i.e., socialism by way of globalism. I think he believes he deserves to be treated like a monarch rather than a democratically elected representative of the people. Long live King George II.
Tony told Matt Lauer on the Today Show this morning ‘you’re not listening to what I am saying.’ It was great.
re: One other issuetheres more to conservative anger about this bill than just immigration. Theres the way in which this whole thing was cobbled together in secret, then suddenly dumped on a surprised public, and almost rammed through the Senate with no debate and hardly any public scrutiny. The contents of the bill are bad enough to a lot of us, but the high-handed, arrogant way in which this whole compromise was almost snuck through the Senate is really just the toppings on the crap sandwich. And then pile on top of all THAT how anti-illegal-immigration folks have been referenced by some of our own allegedly-conservative people in the GOP.
Not only that, the gall to march in our streets (when a march on Mexico City would have been more appropriate), the right to go to our courts, catch and release, the hands out from states to the fed for monies (closing hospitals, law enforcement help, etc.) ,or other states to take their prisoners re: overcrowding, while extolling loudly to support this.
We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture. Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey ... and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende. For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America. As I speak, we are celebrating the success of democracy in Mexico. George Bush from a campaign speech in Miami, August 2000. |
Chemotherapy must affect the brain. That pig won’t fly.
“and the other side assumes that charging a $9,000 or more fine isnt immediate legal status.”
Even worse, they assume 12 million often dirt poor illegals will even bother to attempt to pay that amount. So now you have 12 million non-citizens given amnesty who become a slave nation. Oh yeah, that’s smart.
Also, they will pick away at this bill if it does pass and all the provisions will disappear over time.
Why don’t we just take over Mexico?
“The bill calls the (sham) visa temporary, and yet it can be renewed indefinitely, until the visa holder dies. (Ive decided to apply for a similar temporary extension on my income tax payment this year, although I strongly suspect that the U.S. governments definition of temporary will prove to be situational.)”
You nailed it, that’s why all this bill does is give illegals a permanent get-ou-of-jail card
