The violent crime rate in Carmel Valley, San Diego for 2006 was 1.50 per 1000 residents. It’s an exceptionally quiet, picturesque, family-friendly place to live. I have friends there and they love it.
The more likely scenario is that a few of the squatters are breaking into cars, stealing booze from Vons, etc.
As much as I would dislike having this in my backyard (and as LIVID I would be at the police for blowing it off), it remains unlikely that a mere 300 illegals would have a significant impact on safely. The vast majority are harmless.
That said, they do not belong here and need to be returned to their country of origin.
