CAIR membership plummets
June 11, 2007
ONLINE EXCLUSIVE / DEVELOPING: Membership in the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has declined more than 90 percent since the 2001 terrorist attacks, Audrey Hudson will report in Tuesday's editions of The Washington Times.
According to tax documents obtained by The Times, the number of reported members spiraled down from more than 29,000 in 2000 to less than 1,700 in 2006, a loss of membership that caused the Muslim rights group's annual income from dues to drop from $732,765 in 2000, when yearly dues cost $25, to $58,750 last year, when the group charged $35.
The organization instead is relying on about two dozen individual donors a year to contribute the majority of the money for CAIR's budget, which reached nearly $3 million last year.
Asked about the decline, Parvez Ahmed, CAIR board chairman, pointed to the number of individual donors to the organization.
"We are proud that our grass-roots support in the American Muslim community has allowed CAIR to grow from having eight chapters and offices in 2001 to having 33 today," Mr. Ahmed said.
The self-described civil liberties organization for Muslims seeks to portray "a positive image of Islam" through public relations and the media, but has instead alienated some by defending questionable accusations of discrimination.
Critics of the organization say they are not surprised membership is sagging, and that a recent decision by the Justice Department to name CAIR as "unindicted co-conspirators" in a federal case against another foundation charged with providing funds to a terrorist group could discourage new members.

Fascinating Analysis of Leftist Goals, August 13, 2006
Reviewer: N. Sincerity - See all my reviews
A former 1960s radical, Horowitz is well-acquainted with the Leftist mindset. In this book, he strives to explain the modern alliance between left wing progressivists and radical Islamofascists. He argues that this alliance is based on a common desire to destroy Western capitalism. Leftist sympathy with Islamofascist ideas makes no sense from an intellectual point of view, given that countries ruled by radical Islamists are among the most racist, sexist, theocratic states in the world today. However, Leftists have recognized that they can benefit politically from destructive terrorist attacks on the Western world. A West under attack can be made to turn on its leaders in fear and desperation (as they did in Spain after the Madrid train bombings). Only once people reject current government structures can the Left execute its anti-capitalist revolution and build a new reality that mirrors the Leftist view of utopia.
The complete and utter idealogical hypocrisy of the Islamofascist-Leftist alliance is distressing, but as Horowitz reminds us,

Yeah, bud. CAIR is a 501(c)(3) and their books are public record (if they are indeed valid). When the last year's filing went public a few other writers picked up on it as well:
CAIR by the numbers

Now we just need the Feds to wake up and quit treating them like a valid organization.
Surprise, surprise!
When the book budget opens up, I will read that one. I’ve added it to my list and will check half.com to see what I can get it for. Thanks.
The bad news: They or some other Islamist organization will adjust fire which probably means terrorist attacks inside the United States. That's been the Islamist pattern since 1928, which abuses their own people to further their agenda. They will launch attacks, force a backlash, create fear amongst the American Muslim population driving them to gravitate to Islamist organizations for comfort. Then the never ending cycle begins. Be prepared and let's not fall victim to their cycle of insanity.
I hope the feds are on to them... but not that confident they are. Too many linguine spin-ed liberals entrenched in our government.
"...Names, we want names!..."
I'd bet on the Saudis. They've been funding terrorism through surrogates for many many years.
When Iran is knocked out of the picture, and Syria gets slapped around, the Saudis are gonna have to find a new radical-bunch to back.
If the Saudis are ever exposed as the primary bankers for the islamoterrorists, 'islam' would be in serious hurt, and the Saudi family would be trying to buy Switzerland ................... FRegards
Thanks for the ping.
Thanks for the ping!
Interesting. Thanks for the PING.
I’d like to see Ibrahaim Hooper on a soup line.
Except the gays in CAIR will never be "out."
Hmm, thanks for the perspective. That makes entirely too much sense.
No, they're not, but IN MY EXPERIENCE all muslims are sympathetic to the kill crazy terrorists.
Even the mainstream, Americanized ones who speak perfect english and have Master's Degrees and feed you cabbage rolls and tabouli. Get the truth out of them, and they're on the side of the terrorists.
In my experience, mind you.
If America is ever attacked again by home grown or foriegn Islamofascist Terrorists, CAIR and the ACLU might be very ripe for some heavy damages from civil court cases.
This is a tactical move on their part.
