Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has drawn guffaws from the pro-life community for comments saying that embryonic stem cell research, which involves the destruction of days-old human embryos, is a "gift from God." Her remarks came after the House approved a bill to force Americans to fund it.
"Science is a gift of God to all of us, and science has taken us to a place that is biblical in its power to cure... And that is embryonic stem cell research," Pelosi said.
Her comments produced an immediate reaction from pro-life groups, including Tony Perkins the head of the Family Research Council
"Pelosi must not have learned from Rudy Giuliani's experience during the GOP debate when the building was struck by lightening as he sought to justify abortion," he said.
"Of course, it's complete nonsense to suggest that God wants us to destroy human embryos, since they are His own creation," Perkins added. "This is just the latest example of the Left's aggressive efforts to lure the unsuspecting into supporting immoral and unethical policies which are whitewashed with spiritual words and phrases."
Marjorie Dannenfelser, the president of the Susan B. Anthony list said that pro-life female lawmakers did more to represent women during the bioethics votes last week than Pelosi.
"Thankfully, several pro-life women did stand up to vote no on spending your taxpayer dollars on research that destroys human life," she told LifeNews.com.
"These female members of Congress are true heroines -- unlike so many others, they have not bought into the distortions of compassion perpetuated by corporate science," she added.
Dannenfelser said the pro-life women who voted against human cloning and embryonic stem cell research included Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Barbara Cubin (R-WY), Jo Ann Davis (R-VA), Thelma Drake (R-VA), Mary Fallin (R-OK), Virginia Foxx (R-NC), Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), Candice Miller (R-MI), Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO), Sue Myrick (R-NC), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), and Jean Schmidt (R-OH).
"Put simply, these Congresswomen recognize that embryos are humans who deserve life and respect. Regardless of their size or level of development, the tiniest humans do not deserve to be treated as products," Dannenfelser concluded.

I guess it depends on who her god is.
Well,I guess there are *Catholics* and there are *San Francisco Catholics* (not to be confused with atheists).
Considering Pelosi’s supreme master is Satan, there is nothing wrong with her statement.
Can we hit her upside the head repeatedly with a Bible until she understand what is actually in there?....or until her pulp of a head is no longer capable of speech?
>> I guess it depends on who her god is.
Exactly.
Her “god” is Gaia, pagan earth mother.
Not the Almighty GOD who created all things, including (but not limited to) Nancy Pelosi’s “almighty earth”.
Pelosi is being perfectly consistent with the Left Up-is Down, Slavery is Freedom doublespeak view of the world.
I think she has lost her friggin mind.
She is supposed to be a Catholic and she wants scientists to delve into killing the unborn and experimenting with human life.
Has it escaped Pelosi’s attention that embryonic stem cell research has not accomplished ANYTHING nor is there any indication that it ever will?
As a Catholic, we are taught that everything on Earth is made by God. She was refering to the cells that God made. Come on I know we hate the woman but let’s not go nuts.
Just what would Nancy Pelosi know about either subject?
She should leave the Catholic faith and become an Episcopalian, since they support abortion, gay bishops, don’t believe in Apostolic succession, are ok with embryonic stem cell research...
“She is supposed to be a Catholic..”
You’re never supposed to be a Catholic - you are one or you are not.
Nancy should donate herself to the Idiotic Brain-Cell Research Project.
Everything is a gift of God except the stuff we come up with ourselves.
Clearly she means her "god" whose name is HaSatan or the Evil One
b'shem Yah'shua
She really should learn to keep her mouth shut. Her ignorance is endless.
