LOOK WHO’S SUPPORTING OBAMA

Yesterday, Senator Barack Obama became the first presidential contender to launch a religious outreach website, faith.barackobama.com. Commenting on it today is Catholic League president Bill Donohue:

“On Sen. Obama’s new website, he lists the testimonials of three controversial clergymen: Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., senior pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago; Rev. J. Alfred Smith Sr., senior pastor of Allen Temple Baptist Church in Oakland, California; and Rev. Michael Pfleger, a Roman Catholic Chicago priest.

“Rev. Wright was scheduled to give the invocation at the forum of Obama’s presidential announcement on February 10, but the night before the event Obama rescinded the bid: the Illinois senator knew that his spiritual advisor was so divisive that he would cloud the ceremonies. The black liberation theologian has a record of giving racially inflammatory sermons and has even said that Zionism has an element of ‘white racism.’ He also blamed the attacks of 9/11 on American foreign policy.

“Rev. Smith was honored by the notoriously violent Black Panther Party of Oakland in 1975, and in 1990 was given a community award by the Nation of Islam, an anti-Semitic, anti-Catholic and anti-gay group.

“Rev. Pfleger has allowed Nation of Islam chief Louis Farrakhan to preach in his church; he has been arrested for defacing billboards; he has paid prostitutes to worship at his church; and only last week he staged an anti-gun rally in front of a gun store where he exhorted the crowd to hunt down the owner ‘like a rat’ and ‘snuff’ him.

“While Obama is not responsible for the record of these three clergymen, he is responsible for giving them the opportunity to prominently display their testimonials on his religious outreach website. If these are the kinds of clergymen he admires, perhaps it’s best he shut down his new website and start all over again. It will take more than ‘God talk’ to get Obama out of this jam.”

Saddens me to say this but the third guy is a Roman Catholic Priest.

B-16 needs to have more than a chat with him.

Oh. Obama.

I thought it said “Look who’s supporting Osama.”

I guess it’s an easy mistake to make.

Hillary/Osama ‘08

(Truer than you think.)

Obama openly supports abortion and you find Catholic priests endorsing him? How many Illinois Catholics voted him into the senate?

Sheeeeeech!

I am surprised that he is so unaware of how Fr.Pfleger is viewed by most Catholics.

This is almost as bad as the women that Edwards got to start up his web site, and later get rid of.

The Dems have one heck of a way of trying to prove their faith.

Wee the fact that he allowed Farrakhan to speak before the pulpit says more than enough about his character.

No the Pope doesn't have to get involved.

Cardinal George just ripped into that ijit Pfleger Friday and told him to cool it. (As much as a Cardinal can 'rip' anyway)

Pfleger is about two steps from being defrocked. His 'permanent record' is about two inches thick. And last year Cardinal George threatened to reassign him to a new parish, in Outer Mongolia IIRC. (kidding, but it was far far away from anywhere he can do his mischief)

Personally I think Pfleger wants to be the new version of 'rev' Andrew Greely. Another Chicago priest who was 'removed from his duties' by Cardinal Cody eons ago.

Colin Powell stated on Meet the Depressed that he is advising OBAMA. I think an OBAMA/Powell ticket is a possibility. These guys are not stupid. Do not underestimate them.

I heard that Cardinal George was considering reassigning him some time ago, but his parish said they would follow him wherever he was reassigned.

For Heavens sake I am glad I am not in that archdiocese.

How many more years does he have of his 6 year assignment?

From my understanding they have limited the number of years a priest can remain in a parish to 6 years (with a grandfather clause attached to some older priests.

So is Colin Powel.

That's not true. It's been reported that Obama has asked Powell for foreign policy advice. That does not mean Powell is supporting Obama. In fact Powell has stated it's too early to say who he is supporting and he is "reserving judgment for now".

Once again Cardinal George is asleep at the wheel. He needs to stop issuing idle threats to Pfleger and begin the process to have him dismissed from the clerical state.

STATEMENT OF THE ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO
REGARDING REMARKS MADE BY FR. MICHAEL PFLEGER
June 4, 2007

On Saturday, May 26, 2007, during an anti-gun rally at a Riverdale gun shop, Fr. Michael Pfleger, pastor of St. Sabina parish, reportedly made aggressive and inappropriate statements threatening the store’s owner.

If the comments reported are accurate, and a threat was made, it is up to the civil authorities to investigate the matter and determine what if any action should be taken against Fr. Pfleger.

Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago, stated, “publicly delivering a threat against anyone’s life betrays the civil order and is morally outrageous, especially if this threat came from a priest. It is first of all up to the civil authorities to determine what threat might have been contained in the remarks attributed to Fr. Michael Pfleger. With that determination, the sponsors of the anti-gun rally and the Archdiocese can better decide how to respond.”

Mission, if he chooses people with this amount of bigotry and racism as religious advisor's. They are going to lose a lot of votes.

I saw him smirk and get red when Timmy asked him yesterday if he would support Obama. He said it was too early. In my opinion, it was clear he would vote for Obama.

Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., born into the Muslim faith, and schooled as a Muslim during his early formative years, while in the household his Wahhabist stepfather.

Don’t tell me those lessons didn’t stick. The religious establishment to which O’bama claims affiliation can only just barely be called a “Christian” church, as Christ does not get mentioned much within its walls.

I don’t see why they don’t reassign him. Isn’t his 6 years up at that parish???

When Timmy asked him if he would vote Republican....Powell said he would vote for the best candidate. Couldn’t even commit to voting for a Repubbie.

Not exactly. A clergyman who is really a phony, a hater and a liar is quite emblematic of the true place of religion in their lives.

Why hasn’t B16 done something about this PINO (Yes, I think I made up a new acronym ) Pfleger?

It’s going to be a hell of an election year. We do live in interesting times. Crazy, but interesting.
