Honestly, the Minutemen should just build their fence and “encourage” Washington to enforce the Federal laws that govern immigration, and to build the rest of the fence.

Local laws that stop people from asking for work are nuts. And I say that as somebody who actively avoids the local Quick trip because of the day workers. Quick Trip allows this on their property and I vote to go elsewhere with my dollars - its the American way.

If they are here illegally, they should leave. Their employers should be prosecuted. Other laws can be enforced - non-discriminatory loitering laws, requirements for ID before leasing etc.

But to make it illegal for someone who is standing legally on a sidewalk or parking lot to talk about a particular subject really is a violation of Freedom of Speech.

Supporting such a violation is not something the Minutemen should be spending their energy or my money on.

ACLU Sues to Restore Vote to Felons

A lawsuit filed in federal court in Phoenix by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of five convicted felons challenges a state law that denies voting rights to those who have been convicted of two or more felonies. Under the law, felons can have their right to vote restored only by getting permission from a judge. The suit also challenges a provision of Arizona law that says those convicted of a single felony must pay restitution before their voting rights can be restored.

“Denying the right to vote based on one’s failure to pay financial obligations is unfair,” ACLU spokesman Bertram Petty said. “The Social Security Trust Fund is a scam. Congress is bought and paid for by lobbyists. The government is corrupt. Let’s face it, our society doesn’t take financial obligations seriously. So, why should these convicts be singled out for special punishment?”

“Besides, millions of illegal aliens are using fraudulent identification papers to vote,” Petty added. “We need the votes of felons to counterbalance this alien influence. These felons may be crooks, but they are American crooks. Surely it would be better to have them decide our elections rather than hordes of Mexicans.”

Anyone who supports the ACLU needs to watch the 1/2 Hour News Hour. They usually have a segment representing what all the ACLU has done to us.

They should observe the day workers getting picked up and follow them to their job sites and protest and harrass them their. Should also take the numbers of contractors picking them up and report them to ICE.

Recently large demonstrations have taken place
across the country protesting the fact that Congress
is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that
the US might protect its own
borders; might make it harder
to sneak into this country and,
once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand
the thinking behind these protests.
Let’s say I break into your house.
Let’s say that when you discover
me in your house, you insist that I leave.

But I say, “I’ve made all
the beds and washed the
dishes and did the laundry
and swept the floors. I’ve
done all the things you don’t
like to do. I’m hard-working
and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters:

You are Required to let me stay in your house
You are Required to add me to your family’s insurance plan
You are Required to Educate my kids
You are Required to Provide other benefits to me & to my family

(my husband will do all of your yard work because
he is also hard-working and honest, except for that
breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out,
I will call my friends who will picket your
house carrying signs that proclaim my
RIGHT to be there.

It’s only fair, after all, because you have
a nicer house than I do, and I’m just
trying to better myself. I’m a hard-working
and honest, person, except for well,
you know, I did break into your house

And what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a
fraction of the cost of my keep, and
there is nothing you can do about it
without being accused of cold,
uncaring, selfish, prejudice!, and bigoted behavior.

Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you learn
MY LANGUAGE! so you can communicate with me.

And don’t forget to make sure your forms are in MY language - I need to understand them...

Yeah, they shouldn’t get taxpayer money when they obviously have a conflict of interest by meddling so much in politics and legal matters that affect taxpayers.

I'm speechless...

When you are surrounded by a mob of non-English speaking grinning illegal alien azzholes that are looking at you like you are lunch I bet you will not be so speechless in calling for help from that awful "felon that got his right to vote back".

Because friend, that is exactly where this country is being taken.

Be aware that you will be cited as a Nazi when you insist that people “hav zer paperz in orzer!”

I suspect the proper comeback to that is, we wouldn’t need people to prove they have legally entered this country, if the government would build northern and southern walls.

I’ve been called worse, and I didn’t curl up into a little ball. Funny thing is, they call me names when I point out their criminality. I’m supposedly the bad guy, but they’re the ones breaking the law (or condoning and encouraging it)...

Jim Gilchrist, President of the Minuteman Project to Speak at Protest Event

Jim Gilchrist for President of the United States of America!

We've been searching for a strong 3rd party candidate - maybe he's been here, right under our noses.

“”But to make it illegal for someone who is standing legally on a sidewalk or parking lot to talk about a particular subject really is a violation of Freedom of Speech.””

We had a Standard Brand store in my old neighborhood that became the day labor hang out. They blocked the doors, wouldn’t move so you could back out, and generally made the females feel uncomfortable having to wade through them and ignore the cat calls to get inside the store.

People stopped going to that store even though the store management did not encourage the day laborers to gather. They tried to get them to leave but LEO’s were of little help.

The store closed from lack of business.

While some businesses encourage day labor gatherings there are others that don’t. It isn’t fair that loitering groups of illegals should do such damage to a business they have to close their doors.

First, my sympathies - that’s an awful situation. I think I mentioned that there are places in my neighborhood I avoid because they are illegal hangouts.

But I would argue that the problem is their actions and their legal status not what they are allowed to talk about.

Blocking the doors and and making customers uncomfortable has other remedies available.

Now, a good counter argument is that our government isn’t pursuing those remedies and I’d have say.. yep, I agree. I’d just hate to see our response to our government’s failure be the wrong one.
