WASHINGTON Proponents of immigration reform vowed Friday to resurrect a bill stalled in the Senate, and President Bush urged leaders to continue debate on legislation that would provide permanent status for 12 million undocumented immigrants. "We are not giving up, we are not giving in," said Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., the Democratic architect of the sweeping reform measure.
Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., said the Senate now had a road map to proceed, allowing for additional amendments to the bill that would address concerns of individual lawmakers and help push the legislation forward to a final vote. But it remained unknown when the legislation would return to the Senate floor, and the final outcome of the bill is still in doubt.
"I don't think Harry Reid has any intention of bringing this bill back," said Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas.
An outcry was also heard from immigration reform advocates. "It is utterly unacceptable for the Senate to fail to address the issue of comprehensive immigration reform," said Janet Murguia, president of the National Council of La Raza, the nation's largest Hispanic rights organization.

“Refusal to bring the bill back will be a small, but delicious, tidbit of revenge against Bush.”
Be ever vigilant! This is dealt a setback, but they could revive it anytime it suits *their* agenda.
“Don’t give up, and don’t you think it’s your fault for voting for him twice. They way I remember things is that we had a choice between Bush/Gore or Bush/Kerry. Trust me, we made the right choice. LOL!”
CORRECT.
Besides, while Bush is lobbying for the bill, he is NOT the one making the votes. It is still the Senators who are the ones WRITING THE BILL. They are responsible (or irresponsible) for the bad parts of the bill.
I remember reading a story in the local paper a couple of years ago (San Jose Mercury). It was about a man who had saved up to make his dream come true...buying a home. The reporter told about the nice big back yard with the orange tree and all of the other things that made it special and then dropped the bomb...the man was an illegal alien enjoying his American Dream. He went to the bank and got a loan with no problems at all, signed the mortgage, and then (I assume) went out into his illegal back yard to enjoy his illegal orange tree.
So the federal student loans don’t surprise me, nor would I ever expect a single penny to be paid back (other than through the taxes of actual working American citizens).
The American Dream is for Americans. When every legal American man, woman and child has fulfilled their dream, maybe then we can focus on American Dreams for illegals. Until then, a one-way trip back across the border sounds like the best solution to me.
Just say NO to Illegal Alien Amnesty!! Keep calling!! Its NOT OVER!!
