Since he built it back up after 9/11, and won two straight congressional victories, I guess he can wreck it a little. Funny there is no vitriol here directed at Ronald Reagan who signed an amnesty bill in 1986.

Uh, he wasn’t at war with radical Muslims who killed 3000 of our people, and Ronald Reagan did not bitch slap his base by calling them anti-American fear mongers!

“no vitriol here directed at Ronald Reagan”

We learned a lot from that “amnesty” and are not going to be fooled twice into thinking Congress has ANY intention of border enforcement. Number 2, I hope to think we on FR would not speak ill of the dead and those who are not able to defend themselves. Do you think we are DUmmies? :)

What would be the point in expressing vitriol for Reagan’s amnesty. What could have been done about that should have been done 21 years ago.

This is the here and now. What’s going on sucks and we’re stuck in the middle of it. B!tching about Reagan’s faux paux is useless.

There was no Internet and no FR along with other (and no Rush I believe, could be wrong)conservative sites then. I don’t believe immigration was the issue then that it is now either. We tended to believe our politicians back then when they told us the bill would regulate illegal immigration. If it were Reagan proposing this bill now he would receive the same scepticism Bush has received.

The Ronald Reagan comparison is a non starter and you guys should stop using it. Reagan was so positive and looked for the good in things it gave him a small blind spot in this area. He was lied to about the effects of the bill and has spoken and written about it. Times were also different. The economy was good for JUST about everybody. Thousands of families of legal Americans have had their lifestyle eroded by W and his army of illegals. The effect of 30-40 million is WAAAYYY different than the 3-5 million Ronnie gave amnesty to. Learn history before you make invalid comparasion. Also Ronnie NEVER insulted his base. The 11th commandment was that you never spak bad about a fellow Republican.
