Travel Trivia Contest on Free Republic Thread Results in $$$ for the SSgt. Wuterich Defense Fund
It came as a surprise this morning to Haditha Marine supporters Jazusamo, Girlene, and RedRover. But there it was. A post from Freeper Lilycicero challenging RedRover to answer a Bear State travel trivia question: What city is known for its garlic festival? The prize? A one hundred check to the SSgt. Frank Wutetich Defense Fund.
Despite being Freepmailed the answer, and broad hints from Lily, Jaz and Girl, Red nearly muffed it. Finally, he posted the correct answer to the relief of all.
We salute you, Lilycicero, for your contribution to the defense of a Marine who did his job and did it well. And thanks to all who help the Haditha Marines. (Hey, Jaz! Where are those links?)
wooohooo; you go girl!!!!!!!!
I'm slow tonight, Red but here's the links.
WOO0OOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!
You really did it! We were all holding our breath wondering whether Red would get all the hints. It took some effort to lead him to the answer. But he did it!
THANKYOU, Lilycicero, for your most generous contribution to the Haditha Marines. And I compliment you on your ensemble!
You be stylin’, lily! There you go, Don Dinsmore, another faithful FReeper making a sizable donation to support the Haditha Marines.
OUR DEAR, DEAR LILY AT POST #160!
That picture of Red facing down his dinner on the sidewalk was priceless...:~)
I have another idea, and while not as creative as lily's or even unique, would be a fun way to help these Marine's with their legal fees.
Why not "sponsor" one or more of our accused Marines, just like they do at marathons and such.
We could base our pledges on a number of things, such as the miles in a given leg, the full trip down, up, or round trip, how many riders overall participating, etc.
The mileage numbers could be based on Don Dinsmore's odometer, and I bet he could be persuaded to get any other criteria needed, such as number of riders or miles in a given leg.
Even a nickle or dime a mile could be substantial given the length of the ride, but it'd take an awful lot of us to make a dent in the families' legal bills.
I'll start it off by pledging 5 cents a mile, for every mile put on Don Dinsmore's odometer during the extent of the run for each of the three that still have murder charges pending - Wuterich, Sharratt, & Tatum.
