>The other is currently deployed with the 3/1 in Iraq. He is Capt. Jeffrey Dinsmore

I just read Capt. Jeffrey Dinsmore’s letter to his father and my sense of disbelief regarding the Haditha rush to judgment is only tempered by the simple fact that there are sick people in our media and Congress that wish to inflict arbitrary harm to those that defend us.

It’s no doubt an inescapable memory once accused on the front pages of the NYT, in the Halls of Congress, and by the liberal foghorns who’ve mastered the art of defamation. It’s hard to imagine a retribution that would ease, let alone heal, the anguish unjustly thrust upon these guys. It is in my prayers that the trust we have in our Marines is the prevailing thought our defenders remember; our trust reflected in the truth which shines brighter each day ahead.

Thanks for the the links, pings, and cross references to other threads, articles, and sites.

You’re welcome, Gene! There are good men, military guys turned lawyers, on the side of the Marines: Brian Rooney, Gary Myers, Neal Puckett, Jack Zimmermann, to name a few. And I believe they will prevail. But you’re right. Some damage is too great for justice to ever be truly done.

Well said, Gene. The truth is starting to come out and it will prevail. Like you say though, it can’t be erased from the memory of these fine Marines.

Thank you for sharing that, Gene. I was struck by a comment made by one of the fathers at the Nifong trial. He said his son believed that when he (his son) died, there would be mention of the accusaion. I don't think many here have given much thought that far in the future.

Will these Marines be remembered for their bravery? Their heroism? Their courage? Their honor? Their commitment? Their sense of brotherhood?

The only vengeance that would be appropriate belongs to the Lord. Although I fully intend to die happy only after I have pissed on murtha's grave.

Until then, I join you in prayer that our defenders keep our trust foremost in their mind, with our unfailing gratitude for the works they perform in our behalf. And, that they know, in the marrow of their bones and in the deepest recesses of their souls, of our love for them.

Thank you.
