The investigation into the thwarted plot to bomb John F. Kennedy International Airport is widening beyond the four men in custody, with more suspects sought outside the U.S. for their suspected roles, a law enforcement official said Friday.
The defendants identified last weekend were "just a piece of it," the official told The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because of not being authorized to speak publicly. "We are definitely seeking more players. We are targeting others overseas."
The official declined to provide details about the possible suspects, or in what countries they are being sought. Law enforcement officials, through the use of an informant, were able to undermine the airport plot in its early stages. The four suspects made trips to the airport, took video and photographs, drew diagrams and collected information. They then hoped to shop their information to individuals with the capacity to pull off their stated plan of causing "greater destruction than the Sept. 11 attacks," the official said.
According to court documents, the men sought the help of Jamaat al Muslimeen, or JAM, a Muslim organization based in Trinidad a known violent group involved in killings, kidnappings and weapons trafficking over the past two decades. I’m guessing the editors of the ‘ole grey whole still think they did the right thing by putting this story on A-30
why do Democrats complain that Bush did not do enough to connect the dots to unravel the plot and prevent 9/11? Why do they complain about Bush using secret surveillance such as the NSA phone program as violating civil rights? Why do they complain about the means of connecting the dots? why do they think that the dudes at Gitmo deserve the civil rights of American citizens?
why do Democrats think the way they do? Is everything about hating Bush?
Those same editors put Abu Grahib (sp?) on the front page every day for a month.
Newspapers make value judgements when they print their stories. Where they place them in the paper, and whether or not to even cover certain subjects is a call that all news organizations make.
Leftist ideology is no less of a death cult than Islam is.
Yes.
Looks like we got more to worry about than illegal aliens, some of the legal ones are just as dangerous.
Dang! I thought they found the guy on the grassy knoll.
I dunno. I read that and I hear "We haven't got much of a case against these guys, so we're going to point the press away from 'em." Of course, I'm an awful cynic.
Take a closer look in the mountain caves of Pakistan/Afghanistan why don't you? A guy with the initials UBL might have a little inside info for you.
I just don’t like sending the message that we know about you and are coming for you (assuming they didn’t know we were aware of them). Now, they know for certain we are coming for them and they’ll hide.
No. Hatred is an honest emotion, at least. What they are doing is demonizing Pres. Bush for political purposes. His negatives are very high as we all know, and they want to take advantage of that by piling on. That is a cold, calculated, political strategy.
