In South Carolina, Mr. Graham faces re-election next year, but Republican officials there said he is unlikely to face a primary challenger.

Why in the hell not!

It would be interesting to find out how many of those Senators voting against this monstrosity are up for re-election in 08. Mark Pryor (D-AR) is one.

Maybe the reverberations from the 06 election are stronger than the bot-loyalists wanted to believe.

RINO’s & ‘Rats...time to clean house in Congress!

The 2008 Conservative Revolution has started.

Now all we need is a dyed in the wool Conservative to lead the revolution in 2008!

"The amnesty exhibit is the most flagrant abuse of public trust..."

Yes. The amnesty crisis!

And it's not only the Congress.

When George Bush took the oath of office, he swore to uphold the laws of the United States. That means enforcing them! He has failed to do this! He not only failed to enforce the immigration laws--he refused to enforce them!

For this he has earned--and deserves--the scorn and the fury of the American people!

9/11 was never repeated because of his attentive leadership, and his tax cuts stimulated the U.S. economy to unprecedented heights of prosperity. For this he is to be praised.

However he enlarged the federal budget! He increased federal entitlements--notably by his prescription drug plan! He refused to nullify the Supreme Court's absurd Eminent Domain Decision! He refused to support our Border Patrol Agents! Through his negligence he allowed the U.S. Congress to fall to the Democrats in 2006 and placed Congress and the Presidency in jeopardy in 2008! And most notably, he refused to enforce U.S. immigration laws and allowed the present crisis to reach this dangerous level!

For all this he is to be scorned!

If, through his negligence and refusal to enforce immigration laws, if through his refusal to secure the Mexican Border, disaster should strike America--through terrorist infiltration--or by seriously empowering the dangerous Democrat Party--or anything else, the present scorn and fury of the American people will become much, much worse.

IMO Mr. Bush sucking up to Bill Clinton hurt him even more.

I would be very surprised if McCain even got re-elected to the Senate from Arizona, much less POTUS, after this immigration debacle. Time to retire gracefully, John. Go home and sit in your rocking chair in the nice Arizona sun.

You are right. The Federal Government needs to be sued (class action) to compel them to enforce existing laws. The fence has already been approved/funded and yes, the supposed “teeth” in the 1986 shamnesty was never implemented/enforced. If anyone is an attorney out there, I would absolutely give generously to fund a suit.

That village idiot Graham did not realized that his buddy TED and REID were using this bill to SET UP girly man Graham in the general election in 2008. Reid plans to run conservatives in SC and GA and other states and this bill will be used as
a hammer to crush them . It may work , I think Graham will lose in 2008 if he runs !

>>My only concern about our (conservatives) opposition to this has been this: there’s a lot of “No Amnesty” and not enough “Close the borders”<<

Bush would veto any border security bill that didn’t include amnesty. Maybe in 2008 we will get a better POTUS, maybe worse.

Why in the hell not!

It's very hard to primary an incumbent that the RNC decides to back to the hilt, which they will in Graham's case.

SC is going to need an independently wealthy candidate with the time and organization to challenge Graham himself, because the RNC certainly isn't going to be grooming a primary challenger to that POS Graham.

You're probably right. I just look at ole' pappa bear Bush giving a big warm prison-buddy hug to a known murderer (even if he got away with it)...

I mean, at what point is it ok to faun obsequiously at the feet of OJ Simpson? After all, he's innocent too, isn't he?
