Turned out his Daddy really was sick at the time. He had a hyper-thyroid condition and had his thyroid gland killed not long after that incident. It isn't very well known.

There was also some tin-foil stuff in there because his dog Millie developed the same symptoms (Graves Disease) around that time.

Millie had it too? I know Barbara Bush was diagnosed around the same time as the President. I thought it odd they both had it.
I was interested in the disease because I had an uncle who also had it.

...and Barbara had/has it too. That is bizarre, and I hope they looked at all possibilities. Too much of a coincidence, IMO. They did check the VP residence, IIRC, since they all lived there for 8 years.
