Youll be shocked, shocked to find out whos behind this: Veterans for Peace, Global Exchange and Code Pink. But dont you dare question their patriotism. Questioning their sanity is fair game, though. Evidence of west coast anti-military crazy goes back a few years.
The annual aerial show by the U.S. Navys Blue Angels a San Francisco tradition dating back to 1981 that pumps millions into the local economy is running into opposition from three local peace advocacy groups that are calling for a permanent halt to the popular Fleet Week flyover.
CodePink, Global Exchange and Veterans for Peace, Chapter 69, are working with Supervisor Chris Daly on a Board of Supervisors resolution to address concerns over the Blue Angels.
Daly acknowledged he is considering a call to halt the flyovers because, he said, they seem dangerous and unnecessary. Daly said he plans on introducing the resolution as early as Tuesday, but is still drafting the language. A resolution is not legally binding, but states a board position.
The Code Pinkos dont care about the economics, or the inspiration that kids might get from Fleet Week and the Blue Angels (well, they may care about the inspiration, but only to denounce it). They only care about themselves and their precious politics.
CodePink has launched an online petition, signed by more than 500 people to date, calling on leaders to end the flyovers for reasons of public safety, air pollution and fuel waste.
Cox said the resolution would establish that city leaders and the public are not in support of having the Blue Angels.
We can then take the next steps we have to legally stop them, he said.
Hm. San Fran has a population of about 751,682. Code Pink has 500 signatures on their online petition. Theyre a national organization with connections to the Speaker herself500 signatures is a pathetic result. But they think they represent the public of San Francisco. Given that citys warped politics maybe they do, but they have a looong way to go to prove it.
They need to put some live ordinance on that wingtip mount, then go out and take out those Code Pink commies.
What the Blue Angels ought to do is (if possible) go supersonic, do a low pass downtown, and let that sonic boom knock a few free-clinic-provided fillings loose!
A sonic boom from a group of F-18’s would probably make the hippies think they were having LSD flashbacks. I like it...
In Tucson a few years back I saw a pair of F-16s out of D-M in tight formation slide by overhead at fairly low altitude. (I was hiking in the mountains west of town) Subsonic, but very, very fast ‘cause there was no sound until they were well past. There was something eerily beautiful, graceful, yet deadly about them. I think it was the no sound part - up in the Saguaro park there was no background noise at all. I think that made them seem all the more like predators on the hunt. Set off all those long-dormant instincts. ;-)
Wow you were Carrier Crew !
Apparently the Carrier is the most vulnerable vessel in the fleet because the enemy obviously need to knock it out first, so the crew need to be better trained in fire/rescue than ordinary sailors, you lads stick you necks out further, is that true ?
Me Uncle Brian drove us to Norfolk for the day when he lived in VA, saw these grey monsters moored in the Harbour. The Royal Navy has carriers (like space craft they were).
What puzzles me is that no other country in the world since the Japs in Second World War has shown any interest in building up a seaborne air force like yours : not Hitlers Germany, not Soviet Union, not China, not Israel, no one.
Anyway the more unpleasant subject of the benders in San Francisco.
Dont bother with all this emailing and writing to the papers - get as many ex military personnel down to their town and make your presence felt ! Fight back !
As always stick up for your country but be peaceful dont use violence unless defending yourself.
Aircrew, really. We guys ride in the back of the S-2, S-3's, P-3's and the ASW helicopters and monitored the search gear. Best job I ever had.
Americans had a huge respect for Winston Churchill and with his "Iron Curtain" speech helped make the cornerstone of American policy after the war. As it turned out, American policy outlasted that of the Soviet Union. Of course with out you Brits I am not sure that would have happened.
“I thought that San Franciscans loved “macho men.”,
Only if they have no use for women.
“If they put the pinkos in the same area, perhaps the Blue Angels can swoop down and strafe them.”
And then napalm their sorry asses.
“Veterans for Peace, Chapter 69”
Ought to be Veterans for Peace, Section 8.
Not a chance.
