Wow. This just hasn’t been the fascists’ day. First, they are losing the immigration bill. Now they are losing their “retreat” from Iraq.

Looks like I will have to switch prayers against him on Immigration and for him on the war. It is getting confusing.

The immigration bill didn’t have a chance of passing to begin with. Immigration reform will pass right after SSI reform.
Pray for W and Our Troops

dont get too excited. The Dems are taking a lot of heat for not getting us out of Iraq so the media shall, again, run to their defense and tell how they dont NEED to get us out now becuase the surge is finally working.

In six to nine months the world will know that America won the war and that Al Qaeda in Iraq has been totally defeated.
God bless our troops and President Bush.
God bless America.

The illegal immigration bill is DEAD and it is history. Now pray for President Bush because he has been steadfast against all the odds in the war on terror and that is why we are winning this war and winning it big. Pray for our brave troops who are fighting for our freedom and our way of life.
God bless America.

I'm no Jimmy Carter, but now is a good time to get the Sunni Insurgents on the peace table and work something out. If they were ex-Ba'athists, I'm sure we can try to work them back in the government.
With Al-Qaeda, we have to destroy and marginalize them in Iraq.
But first let's take some steam off the insurgency and that's why we have to be more aggressive in dealing with them in Iraqi politics.
Without our help, the Shi'ites backed by Iran can screw them since they are the majority in Iraq.

Now the trick is to convince a majority of these sunni groups the US wants to leave them in peace, but cannot do so until they bite the bullet and put down their arms, the same as is required of the Shia militias, and use the vote to rebuild their country.
To: MinorityRepublican
I certainly agree with you. But, the Shia are extremely paranoid and fearful people with no experience at governing or creating a security force and see a Baathists under every rock ready to throw them out of power. It will be hard to get them to do anything.

I would say the same things A had to say. We see few able bodied Shia step up to the plate. A Shia like Chalabi could be one considered to be strong enough to really lead, and Allawi though a moderate Sunni ex-Baathist yet another good choice.
The Shia have proven since they took over the reign of power when the Allawi lead IGC was disolved simply have not done a damn thing right, except in a few cases when no other option was on the table, e.g. kicking out a few known cabinet members known to be causing trouble and siding with the insurgents of different pursuasions.
I for one see no one other then Chalibi stepping up to the plate from the Shia side, that could perhaps really make big changes for the better.
The Maliki government cannot even put in place the oil bill that would define how each province gets funded by oil/gas/other mineral exports.
This is vital to their future as much as stamping out the insurgency. And yet they continue to drag their feet.
