State Sen. Charles Bishop hit Sen. Lowell Barron on the floor of the Senate this afternoon.
The Senate was in recess when Bishop, a Republican from Arley, and Barron, a Democrat from Fyffe, started an animated conversation. Bishop suddenly hit Barron in the face, and Barron fell back onto a desk.
Patrick Harris, assistant secretary of the Senate, said he saw Bishop hit Barron and quickly grabbed Bishop and pulled him back.
Bishop in an interview later said Barron called him a s...o...b, so he hit Barron in the face.
"If he calls me that again, it'll happen again," Bishop said.
Barron was not immediately available for comment.
Yes I realize that now. I went to the link quickly where it stated, "Punch flies on Senate floor".
I hope you do understand that there are some differences between both legislative bodies and what happens in one isn’t always connectd to the other".

Oh, and I also understand differences between politicians and us regular people calling each other names and physically brawling in the work place. For the regular folks, they'd get terminated, fired, and escorted off the premises rather quickly. Not to mention possibly being arrested and prosecuted.
And speaking of "connected" there doesn't seem to be any connection, in regards to regular folks being required to abide by laws and policies in the work place and politicians.
Nothing personal against you or your statement but if some jerk who just called me a whatever got up off the floor and said what you just said, I'd knock him flat on his butt again since he obviously never learned the first lesson...........
The old saying "An armed society is a polite society" has gone by the wayside and allowed big mouth sissies to say whatever they want whenever they want knowing all they have to do is hide behind the cop they call after they get their butt whipped.
Today's cops and lawyers have become the mother the sissies outgrew...........
The problem is that the converse protects the big mouthed bullies. In your society where folks duke it out, the tough and the mean run ripshod over everyone else.
As for the big talk about knocking the guy on his but for calling him a name, I'm calling BS. I've been around for a long time, and I'll tell you right off that it's a lot easier to knock a guy built like Martin Short off the barstool than it is to find the stones to challenge a guy who's built like the Rock.
