Thompson's support jumped from 25% of likely Republican voters in May to 37% in this month's poll, ousting Rudy Giuliani from the lead. Guiliani's support fell to 25%, with John McCain and Mitt Romney both with 14%.

Wonderful. The only problem is, the Mitt and Rudy boosters will get even more frantic.

Frantic over which one of them (if either) Fred is going to pick for his VP :)

Pretty good numbers for a guy who isn’t officially in the race yet.

At this point for me, its coming down to this, how hard will I have to hold my nose while voting for the Republican Candidate this time? Thompson, I can vote for without too much pain. Some of the others would cause me to need a rhinoplasty afterwords.

Pretty good numbers for a guy who isn’t officially in the race yet.

People always like candidates they don't know because they like to assume that those candidates think just like them. The numbers might hold once Thompson gets in or they might not. Time will tell and I'm waiting.

Great point, also, I suspect alot of people are going to read more into FDT than he contains. To be more specific, I DON'T think he is as socially conservative as most people here think he is. He ain't no Rudy, but I'll bet more than a few here are dissapointed when they find everything out about him.

Perhaps not. I understand he voted for NAFTA, voted to acquit Clinton on the perjury charge and supported Campaign Finance Reform. I heard a few of his explanations for these votes during the Hannity interview but most of the responses seemed to be spoon-fed by Hannity himself. He may have good reasons for his votes or he may have just changed his mind. I'm not sure yet but I'll see what he has to say when he gets ready.

I’m not so certain about how much faith I’d put in this poll. Download the PDF and go to the Democrat polling results pages ... they’re reporting the level of concern over immigration among NC Democrats at 0%. I live in NC, and that is so far off base, it’s bizarre.

John McCain and Mitt Romney both with 14%

The thing that stuns me is that 14% still support McPain!!

Just a preview of things to come. The tidal wave is going wash all the others away.

We’re not frantic. We know Mitt’s going to be president.

Yeah, that's why ya'll spend so much time on Fred threads bashing the Fredster over issues that are much more problematic with your guy.

The more I see Fred and learn about Fred, the more I like him. Fred is becoming known and his support is growing.
