Publics around the world favor dramatic steps to strengthen the United Nations, including giving it the power to have its own standing peacekeeping force, to regulate the international arms trade and to investigate human rights abuses. Large majorities believe the United Nations Security Council should have the right to authorize military force to prevent nuclear proliferation, genocide and terrorism. However support is not as robust among the publics polled for accepting UN decisions that go against their countries preferences. These are some of the findings from a survey conducted by The Chicago Council on Global Affairs and WorldPublicOpinion.org, in cooperation with polling organizations around the world. Respondents were interviewed in countries that represent 56 percent of the worlds population: China, India, the United States, Russia, France, Thailand, Ukraine, Poland, Iran, Mexico, South Korea, the Philippines, Australia, Argentina, Peru, Armenia and Israel, plus the Palestinian territories. Not all questions were asked in all countries.

I would like to know what 72% of Americans agreed with this usurpation of our country by the un.
Does anyone know this organization that did the survey?
That ONLY the Security Council of the un can declare war. That the un makes the rules and we follow them?

The UN wants to disarm all civilians, yet they want to prevent genocide. The amazing thing is that so many people don’t see the logical disconnect inherent in this outlook.

“Publics around the world” obviously don’t have a clue what they’re talking about.

Most of the world wants someone else telling them what to do.
They especially want OUR guns.

The publics are a myth. Rev Sharpton and Paris Hilton are as close as we have to the publics, and they are all hype.

"World Publics Favors New Powers for the UN" Well, it appears that 50+ years of leftmedia propaganda has done its job.

They got the answers they were after.
It'll be a cold day in hell before I agree to give up my guns so the un can run rough shod over this country.

This is ridiculous, and undermines every country’s sovereignty.

I agree 100%. Which makes you and I and those who think the un should be done away with, dangerous in their view.

The publics are a myth. But that won't stop them from waving the results in the air and saying that most of the world agrees that the un deserves more power.

Maybe, but don’t underestimate the un’s thirst for money and power. We already know how corrupt they are.
