Didn’t notice any use of ‘Yugoslav’ in the stories about the Ft Dix incident.

I did, the media was referring to these individuals as Yugoslavs, not identifying them by their real nationalities.

The news reports I saw used ‘Albanian’ a lot, never ‘Yugoslav.’ It could have happened, though not much ought to be read into it besides ignorance.

Usually is, it was the very first initial reporting that was done on the incident. If you’re interested, I’m sure searching FR should produce one of the articles. We had a thread on it some place.

Anyway, Tito is dead and Yugoslavia is a departed era.

I agree. I would prefer that Tito remain dead.

"The news reports I saw used ‘Albanian’ a lot, never ‘Yugoslav.’"

The first day, virtually all the reports said "from the former Yugosalvia" or "Yugoslav", with no mention of "Albanian", nor the MSM's favorite political creation "Kosovar" (which was virtually never used, even later). There was even an op-ed in the Washington Times about the whitewash on the story. But some people -- not just Serbs-- bombarded the MSM for more information, because they thought that there was something wrong, something unsaid, and by the second & third day, the muddy waters started to clear.

I recall several stories where the perps were described as being from “the former Yugoslavia” and as Yugoslavs...the REASON for this is that the average American voter (FReepers are generally a cut about the rest) is too dumbed down by American Idol and The View to care or remember WHO Balkanized “the former Yugoslavia”.

Thanks CLINTON.

I remember many with “ethnic Albanians from the former Yugoslavia”. None with just “Albanian”.

You hit the nail on the head and Paris simply nailed the head.

Why would I want to visit Paris and stay at an overpriced hotel? :-)

The only thing that can bring back Tito’s Yogoslavia is if the USSR comes back from the dead. Nobody wants it; not happening.
