"Land for Peace" is a failed strategy

Nothing should be taken for granted. Neither Resolution 242 nor the proposed "land for peace" trade off.

On June 5th 1967, Israel, under great threat of an imminent attack, had no choice but to defend itself. And defend itself, it did. Six days later Israel found itself in possession of what was left of the British Mandate after Jordan was removed from it.

Israel made two fateful policy decisions;

    1. Rather than annex the lands pursuant to its rights under the British Mandate, Israel offered to return much of the land for peace.

    2. Rather than to obliterate the al Aksa Mosque which sits on the Temple Mount, Israel took down the flag of Israel and turned its management over to the Muslim Wakf.

To no avail. The Arabs, meeting three months later at Khartoum, decided on no negotiations, no recognition and no peace.

Israel clearly wanted peace not land and the Arabs wanted land (Israel's destruction), not peace.

"Land for Peace" is a failed strategy

The world figured that out in the late 1930s when Hitler invaded Poland. Seems we have to learn it all over again.

A sure and lasting peace always follows absolute and unambiguous victory.
Nothing else will even come close.

What are the options then for peace in that area?
-Peace for land
-Peace and land
-Two Independent States
-One Democratic State
-No peace.

You must define peace.
Does it mean that Israel and its neighbors live in harmony as do the states of modern Europe?
Does it mean that Israel and its neighbors live in co-existence as did the US and the Soviet Union?
Does it mean that Israel and its neighbors live in did the stats of Europe before WWI - a seething tempest of unresolved territorial disputes?
Does it mean that Israel and its neighbors live it did after the reign of Solomon - a client state of powerful neighbors?
Or some other condition?
Until we define what peace is to consist of we will continue to flounder around fruitlessly seeking that which cannot be achieved.

They have the same pathetic hopes for "land for peace" proposals that the socialists and communists have for their system of government -- it can work, it's just that the people that tried it before didn't get it quite right.

The Israelis, IMHO, need to come up with a policy that encourages, in the strongest terms possible, the Palestinians to route out the terrorists from amongst themselves. Until the Palestinian people rise up and throw off this terrorists, martydom is good and holy mentality, there will be no peace short of their abject and total military defeat as a people.

I believe that a good method for accomplishing this would be what I call the "Golan Solution".

For every terror attack conducted out of Gaza or the West Bank, the state of Israel will move the borders inward by one kilometer, not buffering that land, but annexing it. The people in those areas will be forced to move deeper into the Palestinian areas, they will not become citizens of Israel.

As soon as the Palestinian people stop the terror imminating from their territory for the space of 18 months, the Israelis will be willing, in good faith, to negotiate a Palestinian State...but not until. And if the attacks continue, the annexation continues until the remaining Palestinians are deported into Jordan, or Lebnannon, or wherever else may take them.

We moved millions of Japanese out of China after World War II...if it camne down to it, we could move the Palestinians as well. Hopefully, however, the Palestinian people themselves would see the absolute necessity of removing the terrorists from their midst and take that step so necessary for them to become a true nation.

Failed strategy? Worked for the AmerIndians. And “Casinos for Peace” seems to be maintaining the ceasefire today.

Rule #1. Land for land.
Rule #2. Peace for peace.
Rule #3. Do not fix rules one and two.

Rule 3 should be “do not MIX rules one and two.”
