Today is the Cloture Vote on Immigration Bill [first cloture vote fails; 2nd cloture vote fails]
7 June 2007 | Gulf War One

Posted on 06/07/2007 6:17:41 AM PDT by Gulf War One

This is the homestretch.

Call and e-mail your senators today, Republicans and Democrats, urging them not to table debate on this critical piece of legislation.

It deserves a fair and open debate of all ramifications. To do otherwise is unamerican.

Ask them to vote "NO" on cloture.

Keep bumping this to the top.

Today is the day.

Bless your heart, Feinstein and Boxer are two of the most closed-minded people in the USA. Too bad your fellow citizens cannot see the light. And your GOP runs people against them who are not fully committed to winning because they don’t really think they can win in the first place.

Well, I suppose, but I haven’t seen “fire” in him on anything positive for conservatives. It’s only when he’s peddling EMK initiatives that he has “fire” in the belly.

I suppose most presidents reserve their “fire” for a few things, and I had forgotten other useless GWB initiatives. But the “fire” was there for immigration fiasco.

Who do you think orchestrated the unraveling of this abominable bill?

Kennedy up now ... Booo Hooo ... illegals have a hard time making it here! What a lie, he that he infers that there are 70 THOUSAND illegals serving in the military ... Oh How They Lie! Maybe 70 thousand legal immigrants, but not 70 Thousand illegals! The immigrants serving in the military are proving themselves they will make good citizens. But please they are not illegals!

“We don’t need you now, the Mexicans are here.”

I'm glad you gave that naive little twit an education in basic reality and economics.

I manned a jackhammer building the Silver Spring Metro station one summer, late 70's. It helped to put me through college, doing that "job Americans don't want."

Another summer, and another "job Americans don't want", which was setting-up and then removing the concrete forms used to build residential home foundations.

During college semesters, I had yet another "job Americans don't want" with an office moving company in DC. We'd head downtown at 7PM to some federal agency or another, and relocate the entire agency to another office building somewhere else (usually just a few blocks away). Speed with of the essence, and we'd usually finish exhausted between 1am and 3am.

Yep, it's a good thing there are Mexicans to take "the jobs Americans don't want."

By the way, there was some arrogant "Latino advocate" being interviewed on a news show recently, and bragging that "Mexicans are rebuilding New Orleans, not Americans."

No wonder Mary Landrieu voted NO to cloture eaelier today.

I was just watching Britt on Fox and he showed Lott in the Seante throwing a tantrum saying “If we cannot do this we might as well all resign and go home.” My thought was, “that would be the single most patriotic thing this congress could do.”

At this point I am not trusting any of the 63 Nay voters!

Nope, not at all. They probably need a break to check their Caymans bank accounts.

No, we citizens {more than a few} are in the process of stopping the amnesty movement. McConnell torpedoed this bill.

Re: 280

Who can I work on? My Senators are Feinstein and Boxer?...

Ha! I also live in California and was wondering the same thing. Its not like I can threaten them that I won't vote for them again (never have, and never will)...
The best angle might to play the part of a disaffected Dem. The reality is that open borders plays havoc for everyone, but particularly for those Americans in the low to mid pay brackets. So something along these lines:

'Adding 20 Million+ citizens into our ranks -- in one fell swoop --increases the pressure for further salary reductions. Feinstein and Boxer are supposed to care about the little people (...riiight...) - open borders will continue to disrupt our fine public schools (...I think I'd choke on those words). What about my 'right' to unlimited health care?? This influx of illegal immigrants are denying me of this 'right' as they are overflowing many emergency rooms, and causing others to go out of business'...blah..blah...and blah...

The only thing you can almost bet on is that nobody is going to come back later and make the now-legal people illegal again.

Kennedy still up ... spitting mad that we are letting terrorist and drug smugglers in but stopping the “Landscapers We Need”! Well I guess they all should be wearing signs when they cross the border ... “I am a landscaper, dry wall installer or I am a nasty terrorist”!

They should pay more and get legal labor.

-where is skerry vacationing this week?

I think Kerry's normal workweek is Tuesday noon to Thursday noon.

By the time they got to the cloture vote, he'd already hopped on Teresa's Gulfstream from National to Nantucket Airport, and was headed down to the dock for a cruise on Scaramouche.

By the way, he's working on his new book about global warming and energy conservation while drifting on his $750,000 Hinckley in Nantucket Sound, but don't you believe a word of the slander that Scaramouche gets only .68 miles per gallon of high-test boating gas.

In fact the super-efficient Hinckley Whisperjet engine gets *at least* .76 *nautical* miles per gallon.

I poured concrete ditches in SOCAL for a time....

I worked with quite a few "born in a America" dudes...and some guy's born south of the border too. Circa 1980...

The pay was good....it was manual labor but we were glad to have the work.
