President Bush arrived in Heiligendamm, Germany today to attend the 2007 G8 Summit. There he met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel (Transcript) and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (Transcript)

First Lady Laura Bush participated in the opening ceremonies at the Schwerin City Library in Schwerin, Germany.

Marking the 63rd anniversary of the D-Day invasion, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates met with veterans in Normandy and spoke at a ceremony unveiling the new visitor center at the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer.

Whoops read that post again and it sounded somewhat hard I did not want it to come over as such.

What I was trying to convey was that despite what the Dems and other critics say about the President he does not live in a bubble plus has 2 girls in their 20s who no doubt will have heard of Bono and Geldorf during their time at University.

I am certain though he has come into contact with Geldorf before as he attends some of the world economic summits that Bono, Clinton and Blair do and even if the President has not attended them he would not doubt have read reports of the summits or at least received a summary of them from advisers.

“Death was sudden although he had been suffering/going downhill from something unknown for quite some time. His son was with him in hospital when he died, they believe of heart attack or throwing clot.. Autopsy to be done & arrangements & burial will be in Alabama . John was 77 & they had been married 28 years.

Jackie seems to have a good support system with church people & welcome wagon friends. She is grateful for your prayers & concern.”
