I was going to post this yesterday morning when I initially heard it, but was not able to so.
In any event, a female caller called into Doug McIntyre's radio program, AM-790 in Los Angeles yesterday 6/5/07 and told McIntyre and his audience that there is a little known law that requires political campaigns to refund campaign contributions upon request.
This woman caller seemed very credible and very knowledgeable in regards to political campaign contributions. I apologize I did not get her name.
Then again this morning, McIntyre was talking about what this caller had discussed, and even Mr. McIntyre seemed to be aware of this. Unfortunately I only caught the tail end of both these conversations, yesterday and today.
This morning, McIntyre went on to say this seemingly obscure law or regulation was perfect for those that feel deceived or unrepresented by politicians that they once supported, politicians that now seem to be ignoring their base.
Does anyone else have any information on this? If so could you could offer or provide any other information? Is there time windows for refunds?
Is this information even accurate? If it is, I am one of those who had no knowledge of this. If I misinterpreted what I heard, I do apologize.

Why would you want to do this? Do you mean during the election or of folks already elected?
No, and there’s no “truth in advertising” either.
I think one reason why someone would do this was already given. I think politicians sometimes say one thing, and then do another. This might be good reason to request a refund.
Maybe they are squandering our hard earned money. I would just as soon squander it myself. Maybe we should start calling the RNC and asking for refunds.
Just a guess, but I'd bet there are some out there that after making a contribution to their representative, or political party, feel they are not being represented based on what their representative or party previously stated.
BUT---you have to jump through hoops to get it back. You have a special form, special dates, send return-reciept...and if you make one mistake, you will not get it back. Years ago, the article HAD to be printed in the union newspaper--it was always very small and on the last page. But I made copies, handed out the forms to all employees, and made everyone take that step to get back that money from your dues. Maybe that is what she was talking about.
As stated above, I didn't hear the entire conversation, and it might have included party contributions/support outside of political campaigns.

Thanks, but no, I heard nothing mentioned about government unions in the conversation.
What a great idea if true then we could all email our senators and tell them to vote against amnesty or else you are going to ask for your money back.
Then you should have the politician sign a contract detailing how he will vote, and what creates a breach of contract, demanding a refund.
Otherwise don't give gifts without strings.
That really isn't the issue here. Is there a law or regulation that requires a party contribution of political contribution to be rescinded or refunded upon request?

I heard the same thing - you heard it right. Not sure if it is true, but they seemed pretty confident this morning, like they checked it out after the caller mentioned it yesterday morning.
Why say one thing during the campaign & do the opposite after elected?

McIntyre seem politically astute, and it seemed that even he was surprised by this, and was very interested in what this caller discussed. So much so he spoke about it again this morning.
Me think politician speak with forked tongue.
Hence, the desire to ask for a refund.
