As it happens, Nora Ephron’s current husband, Nicholas Pileggi, wrote two books made into decidedly un-chick flicks, Goodfellas and Casino.

Goodfellas was great. I had mixed feelings about Casino. I think by the time it came out, it was just another overly-gritty/edgy mafia flick — kinda boring. Sharon Stone, stretched to her acting limit like an rubber band just about to snap, didn’t make it any better. Joe Pesche was good though — he always is.

Thank you kindly for your gracious reply.  After posting that question, I began to wish that I hadn't because it's the sort of thing that can be easily misinterpreted and can be the cause for offense being taken, particularly in such a forum as this.  Your courtesy is sincerely appreciated and is the mark of a well-rounded person, which is not at all common to encounter online.  It's a shame that your sister (apparently) doesn't share your perspectives on things but at least she has an opportunity to better herself, with your tutelage being available.  Best wishes and thanks again  :-).
