About 240 federal agents, police officers and police academy students were deployed to an area in south Kansas City Wednesday in search of 18-year-old Kelsey Smith, who disappeared four days ago.
Following leads developed from cell phone technology, the investigators are searching the areas south and east of U.S. Route 71 and Missouri Route 150. Law enforcement is asking that no volunteers participate in the search in order to preserve the integrity of any evidence found there.
FBI Special Agent Jeff Lanza told FOX News that a signal from Smith's cell phone was last picked up in the area around 8 p.m. Saturday, roughly one hour after she was abducted. Investigators were conducting a grid search of the 900-acre area.

It looked like the guy came up on her really fast maybe gave a blow to the head or karate chop. Criminals have the element of surprise, even if you have a gun, knife or mace, they have a huge advantage. It looked like she put her items in the passenger side of car and decided to walk around the back to go to drivers side. Then the guy runs up to her really fast. I always take my items with me to the drivers side and have the key ready. I don’t bother opening my trunk or backseat. I get in, lock the door and toss whatever it is in the back. Many robberies happen in parking lots. They sit and wait, come out of nowhere, and work in teams.
They should get this guys photo out to the public television and internet so he can be found ASAP before he does something else.
Geez, this poor girl goes to Target to buy some wrapping paper and ends up dead. What the hell is wrong with people?
My sympathy and prayers for the Smith family.
It is never going to be a right time to say this, so I’m going to say it now anyway and get it over with.
Young ladies and above should not be wearing shorts (in her case short shorts) and tank tops in public. It’s great for indoors but not in public.
Cover up ladies, and blend in with the rest of the crowd.
It lessens one’s chance of being singled out by a pervert.

God Bless Kelsey and her family. I don’t live too far from Oak Park Mall and Target and the thought of her being kidnapped in daylight shocks me to the core. What a tragedy for all.

How sad.
SO very sad. I’m keeping her family in my prayers. When I read that she’d been abducted, I turned to our 19 year old daughter, who has had Rape Aggressive Defense training, and told her to NEVER allow anyone to force her into a car. Kick, scream, bite, slam her knee into his ‘nads, but don’t allow herself to be put into a car, because she’d likely never be seen alive again. By making a loud, messy fuss, the perp would probably leave her and run so that he could get away without any witnesses.
