Oh I’ve read it .... studied it .... read multiple comentaries on the Sermon on the Mount ... meaty stuff. Not sure how he took it out of context ... all he did was quote it without comment. The words are truth ... hard truth ... but truth none the less. God’s standard is high ... and none of us can reach it. Hence the need for the cross. Yet none of it is void ... He Himself commands be ye Holy as I am Holy. The commandments of our Lord stand, and because of this we are undone. As Paul lamented, who can save me from this body of death? Hence the very need of the cross ... not because the command is void, but because we can’t reach it.

Of course, you probably know this ... it’s just that these words are still in effect ... not for salvation, but for Holy living. God’s standard has not nor will ever change. Again, Jesus said, he who loves me will obey my commandments. The need is there to follow Christ’s teachings.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.”

Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

If you included a tie it would be a bit more dignified.

Dignified? Possibly. But certainly overdressed for the time and locale.

If memory serves correctly, the “BIRD” in the next revetement was crewed by an Airman Deuce named Ross Gonzalez from somewhere in New Mexico. His A/C had a painting of the cartoon character “Speedy Gonzalez” holding twin .45 1911 pistols and crossed chest ammo belts.

Of course every aircraft had the squadron logo. An aqua colored roundel with a green rattlesnake’s head with the mouth open and fangs displayed on the coiled body made of .50cal ammo belt.
A rocker below said “SIDEWINDERS”.

Amazing how much can be recollected when challenged.

Woe to you....

Does not apply against Jesus' own teaching about not taking what is meant for marriage (testifying even to God's relationship with the bride of Christ) and slopping it all over and wallowing in it like a drunk in his spilled barrell -- but thanks for the holy scripture.

A have a story about the X-1.

Here's mine:

A few years ago NASM had a special event at the Mall museum and invited the local scale modelling clubs to come in and set up a display. I was deeply honored and humbled in being one of the members able to take part.

We were set up with a series of tables near the South entrance to the museum, right underneath the starboard wing of the Rutan Voyager aircraft. I'd brought in about 20 of my aircraft, which are predominantly military and run from just pre-WWII to the present day. Included was my X-1, which, with it's international orange paint job, really stood out from all the greens and grays of the other aircraft.

A group of Boy Scouts came up and was admiring our work, and one of them pointed to my X-1 and said "that one's really cool, I've never seen it before, what is it?". I responded by pointing up and to my left (a view, btw, that is now blocked by the addition of SpaceShipOne) and said "take a look up there". The popped-eye/dropped jaw look on the kid's face was absolutely priceless ...

“The most duplicated nose art images were the product of Esquire’s artist Alberto Vargas.”

http://parentseyes.arizona.edu/militarynoseart/ww2-3.htm

A good overview with the bsckstory on most of this nose art.

BTW, some of these were painted by women.

I didn’t even consider that one reason nose art went away is because planes are repainted more often in the past few decades.

Ironically, right now at the Air and Space museum they have a special display up that has a bunch of random historical items like Washington’s uniform, Lincoln’s hat, and....those ruby slippers.

That’s a great story. I bet I could easily go back there and spend the entire day just in that museum again. There is some really fantastic items in there.

Well, even if Lucy's been banned, they can still use Snoopy (c;

Probably not, to the muzzies dogs are unclean animals, so Snoopy will probably offend them also and we can't have that

Was it a surrender or we’re they just overrun from within? Sounds familiar.

The whole maiden/victory over death thing goes back to the Middle Ages - of course Western Civ classes probably aren’t PC anymore either.

So use Lucy from I Love Lucy, or from Peanuts.
