Lucy Pin-Ups Banned by RAF (Offensive to Muslims and Feminists)

Lucy pin-ups banned by RAF

ROYAL Air Force chiefs have risked a bust-up with their pilots by forcing them to black out pictures of pin-ups painted on their planes - including Hampshire glamour girl Lucy Pinder.

In the 1940s it was common to see the likes of Rita Hayworth and Jane Russell adorning the fronts of Lancaster bombers and flying fortresses setting off en route to their German targets.

Countless more pictures of anonymous girls were splashed across aircraft, in poses almost as risque as their crews' missions were risky.

Sixty years on, when British airmen fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan decided to bring the practice into the 21st century, one of their first choices was Lucy, from Winchester.

But their plans were shot down before even getting off the ground - by politically correct bosses worried about offending female crew members and Muslim locals.

Senior commanders got hot under the collar when they heard about the paintings, and immediately ordered that any drawings on Harrier jets be blacked-out to silhouettes only.

RAF Strike Command feared that having too much flesh on display ran the risk of putting off female recruits, who could view the images as sexist.

And in a country where many women wear full burkhas, there was also the worry that pictures offending local culture could spark a diplomatic incident.

Concerned that even the outlines were too provocative, they have now ordered the images be removed completely.

Saints fan Lucy is disappointed the troops weren't allowed to have their fun. Last November she visited Afghanistan with pal Michelle Marsh as part of a morale-boosting tour, and even signed one of the planes carrying her picture.

She was shocked to hear of the enforced cover-up, saying she thought the pictures were "harmless fun".

"It's very flattering, and it's nice that they get to do something that takes their minds off things for a while," the 23-year-old told the Daily Echo.

"It's a shame they've got to change them to silhouettes. Rules are rules, but I don't think it's offensive.

"It's just the way it goes these days. They're doing a very hard job out there and we should all appreciate it.

"It's a very serious situation out there and it's a bit of frivolity, but it's just the lads having a bit of fun and light relief.

"Anything that can cheer them up for a bit must be nice."

Last night RAF bosses defended the ban as entirely appropriate, saying in a statement: "The Royal Air Force values and recognises the contribution of service personnel regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or social background.

"To this end, the RAF promotes working in an environment that is free from harassment and where personnel are respected both for the contribution they can bring to the team and the value and potential they offer as individuals."

As a Christian woman, I also find these paintings offensive.

Might I politely suggest this quote to you:

"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."
-George Orwell

While you raise your fine son, and peacefully attend your church, you might give that quote some real deep thought. You might then realize that those "rough men" are - and have been - giving their life and limb to keep your prissy ass safe from those who would just as well rape you, your son and then cut off your heads.

But, please go ahead and feel free to be "offended" and hold and post your derogative thoughts regarding those "rough men" and their very few, and possibly last, little pleasures. Unlike you, I am reasonably sure that they will still offer up their lives just to assure that you are allowed to continue to be "offended".

I agree.

Besides killing the jihadis and the Islamofascists, we should also carpet bomb Islam with magazines like Maxim. Come to think of it, we should also carpet bomb them with Jack Daniels whiskey, decks of Bicycle playing cards and with cartons of Marlboros and Camels.

Maybe if there was a little bit more pleasure and fun within Islam, the muslims wouldn’t have such hair trigger tempers and they might even find out that there is something worth living for.

It has always made me wonder why so many Arabs who immigrate to the U.S. open up liquor stores.

If you walk into a liquor store, what do you find?

Liquor. Tobacco. Pornography. Lottery tickets.

Most if not all of these things are banned or frowned upon by Islam 9depending on the country of course.)

Yet when these immigrants arrive here, it seems somewhat hypocritical that they would work and own retail businesses that sell such vices.

Maybe it shouldn’t be too surprising. Maybe these guys who immigrated here are mostly libertarians...

I am sorry but I disagree with you. Nose art has been known to help the morale of the troops in war. It is harmless and almost always some of the best artwork out there.

Bob Hope show had both Marylin & Jayne Mansfield.
Jerry Colonna and some accordion playing juggler.
Hope wearing a Korean Papa-san hat, a Looooong Korean white clay pipe, Crew chief one piece fatigues covered in squadron patches and swinging a golf club.
Girls wearing not much and freezing their asses off for our entertainment.
He (Hope)could have yelled out “duckshit” and we would have roared laughing.
His risque jokes about Chico village just outside the base caused us to go hysterical.
I finished watching the show just in time to head towards the "Witch's Teat" for nighttime guard duty. If, IF there is a heaven, Mr.Hope is occupying a seat with a fantastic view.

Sylvester the Cat is in it’s tenth live form in my family.
Black and White tuxedo cats always have a home with me.

"The Enola Gay was named after the pilot’s mother!"

Glamorous Glennis was Chuck Yeager's wife.

Makes history a lot more fun than "cigar shaped bombing aircraft" or "Orange".

Yes I did realize he was quoting scripture. I also realize that Jesus died for us sinners and will forgive us if we accept him. AND furthermore, I realize that arrogant scripture spewing idiots make me sick to my stomach especially when it is clear that they are as clueless as a democrat in a cathedral. You realize I was using sarcasm don’t you?

Happy to say I have an available time next Wednesday.

Dang, was I insensitive again? Darn....

Bingo-Ditto.

Personally, I believe that anything that offends the BurkhaBozos is a very good thing.

To hell with Islam and its murderous minions!

Sarcasm doesn’t translate well in written text ... hence the use of those little smiley face guys on alot of message boards ... unfortunately not here.

Anyway ... unless you have an issue with what Jesus said I’m not sure why you flipped out like you did. The Cross didn’t nullify what He said or commanded .... it is not a magic covering to allow us to do whatever we want when we want. Jesus did say; “he who loves me will obey my commandments.”

anyone else as tired of their culture as I am?

If what the mohammedans do can possibly pass as culture, then my neighbors pigs are well on their way to developing a society to rival the heights of Rome.

As a Christian man, you need to understand the difference between a passing thought and lust.

Maybe you should read Song of Solomon. It’s the best erotic literature ever written.

I am sick and tired of some so-called Christian writers who equate a man noticing an attractive woman with lust. God made women so that they would be sexually attractive to men, so why should anyone act shocked that they are.
