In respect to immigration, the big problem is never discussed. Until 10,000 years ago we lived for thousands upon thousands of years in small family groups. Outsiders were bitterly resisted as being likely to take our lands and women.

From the Pleistocene age on to this day, we are hard wired to resent and attack newcomers either symbolically or physically.

This “hard wired response” is what makes discussing this issue so hard. Thanks to the founding fathers we have a representative democracy and we do not govern by plebiscite. Hopefully, Congress will do what is necessary, take their lumps and do the best they can with a difficult, emotionally laden issue.

President Clinton and a few Democrats joined the Republicans in doing welfare reform. Hopefully, we will be able to do the same for illegal immigration.

This issue is a bit more involved than welfare reform.

While Americans have resented and attacked immigrants in the past, I think fair minds can differentiate legal immigrants from illegal aliens.

The US should remain a "melting pot" of diverse cultures as we've always done in the past. There's no reason at all to accept an invasion of illegal immigrants who, by mere observation, have no intention of assimilating into American society.

What's your point?
Because if it is that we should ignore human nature, it is very anti-Conservative.
