If Junior goes to HMS I will no longer support him. If Budweiser goes, I will no longer support them.

I will cheer for the Bud car and its driver, as long as it is not in the HMS stable or a Toyota.

I just got an email from an insider at Nascar.Com, he says it might be Junior is NOT going to HMS that is a rumor. The reality might be Junior will race under his own JR stable, with Hendrick hardware. I could live with that.

A lot of pundits are telling Junior to leave Tony, Jr. behind wherever he goes. I suppose Junior fans will cheer if he does.

Marty Smith knows the scoop, I trust him. He says Hendrick, he doesn’t post rumors. He got that probably from JJ who he is good friends with or even Jr since they do the One NIght Stands together for Bud. Kelley said no on CUP cars at JRM right now and she is the BOSS LADY and that’s that. :)

I support the driver not the sponsor or anything else.

There are a few negative posts on IP right now, but only from those who can’t deal with Hendrick as a team owner.

Rick Hendrick is what Jr needs. He needs a man who goes to the track, who will support him on good days and bad days. He will give him winning cars. He wants to race and win, it’s quite simple really.

Good to know I am not alone.

I could NEVER willingly support someone who supported Clinton as much as he did.

Isn't Kelley married to a Hendrick somehow?

Not even close. She is married to Jimmy Elledge who crewchiefs the 41 Sorenson previously Mears car for Ganassi.

We have made it a rule to not discuss politics on the Nascar thread. That’s the second time you’ve posted that and it’s really not necessary and will just inflame others.

Sorry, I thought the rule was we are not allowed to “discuss” politics.

I was not aware we are not allowed to “mention” politics.

I thought there was a difference.

As an equity partner in HMS, Jeff knows. Maybe not the details, and it may be true that he hasn't had a chance to speak to Junior. But he knows, and he probably doesn't want to reveal anything until Junior's announcement. I also think it's interesting that Junior is making the announcement from his own shop instead of at HMS. Rick is letting him take the lead. So it's possible the details might include sweeteners like HMS helping JRM's development, engines, etc., and maybe an ownership position in the 25 team, which is the one we've been hearing he's going to. Casey will move to the 5. None of this is confirmed, of course.

But this is an absolutely great growth opportunity for Junior no matter what the detals are. Growth both as a driver and on the business side of the sport.

I was hoping it wouldn’t be Hendrick for personal reasons. Hendrick owns both of the car dealerships here in Concord that I take my vehicles to or buy parts from. The service has been decent enough, but their parts prices are very high and it’s taken me a while to warm up to them. Childress would have been better to me. Regardless, I just hope Dale Jr. finds a home where he gets the support he needs to finally become the champ he is. I’m tired of JJ and Flash. It would be great to see Jr. as cup champ instead.

Yep, I’m gonna hafta let this sink in for a while...I like Casey Mears, lots of potential in that DNA but he hasn’t performed much...BuhBye BUSCH, never liked ya much.

There are a ton of fans with lots of mixed feelings out there...

You know I was a Gordon fan back in the day cause all my friends were Earnhart Sr. fans. But even so, I pull for Earnhart Jr. as well in every race. He is just a likeable guy. Now its even easier to pull for both of them.

Now if I could get my wife to give up on that weasel Tony Stewart life would be grand!

Peaceful is right. The biggest question is what Bees will be picked off by the other teams.

Tidbit from my local fishwrap; Hendrick's reps here told the track officials to not allow Shrub to talk to the media. Wish they would have had the brains to talk to SlowCasey.

Now, do I drag by the track to see if the 5 is there, or do I liveblog the Jr announcement? It's about 25 minutes between State Fair Park and home one-way, they don't open up until 9, and there's some slop between getting to the Park and getting into the Mile's bleachers.

How do they "not allow" him to speak with the media?

Well if you want to get the local scoop go for it. Bring your camera with a zoom lens. :)

I can give you a link to the podcast from Jr’s PR folks later and I’m sure the conference will be played over and over and over!! LOL

No word from Shrub yet, should be coming soon. Fortunately I’m off today and if all goes right I should get screencaps. :)

Since I wasn’t there (much less on the pit-road side of the track), I couldn’t tell you.

All the local news here is saying Jr. to Hendricks is a done deal, though some will add something on at the end about how he hasn’t actually announced it yet.
