What the heck took so long!!! I've no idea.
Ask the whingeing self-styled "Constitutionalist" FReepers who were complaining about the Justice raid on his offices.

They have him on 16 counts in an indictment. It is a large case that they wanted to put together tightly, so he could not get off. Something this large, you do not want to rush. This case is way bigger than Randy Duke Cunningham. This will be the largest case seen in Congress for many years. He will be tried in Virginia and not Louisiana too. He is toast.

If we had smart Republican leadership, the ethnics investigation would take equally as long.

We can’t have a democRAT be indicted too close to the elections now can we? This is far enough out from the next election as to be forgotten by then
As for the last one it needed to be spiked until after the democRATS had won

Couldn’t interfere with the Democrats propaganda scampaign about a “Republican” culture of corruption before the 2006 election and couldn’t let it interfere with the “first 100 hours” of a “new tone” in Congress either.

All I can say is the investigation was quite extensive.
