The question is, whether Fred Thompson married a girl so young as to raise eyebrows?

The rule for the greatest allowable disparity half the man’s age plus seven years .

They were married on June 29, 2002. Fred Thompson was born on August 9, 1942. On their marriage date, he was 59.9 years old.

Jeri Kehn was born in January 1967, she was 35.5 years old.

59.9 /2 = 29.45.

29.45 + 7 = 36.95

Verdict: Excessive Age Disparity.

Perhaps those who have already committed to another candidate might disapprove, but otherwise, not so much.

I enjoyed the wiki list of slang terms for the disparity.

So Fred is 24 years older than Jeri. That does not bother me, and don’t understand why it should bother anyone.

Yes, but now Fred's 64, and Jeri is 40.

64/2 = 32

32 + 7 = 39.

Verdict: Acceptable age disparity.
