Scarborough Attacks Fred's Wife (Joe insults Fred's wife)
Captain's Quarters ^ | 6/4/07 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 06/04/2007 11:30:41 AM PDT by teddyballgame

Joe Scarborough offers his keen insight and classy analysis into today's political scene in an interview this morning with Congressional Quarterly's Craig Crawford. During the Morning Joe program on MS-NBC, Scarborough suggested that Fred Thompson's wife is a whore (via the Palmetto Scoop):

SCARBOROUGH: Have you seen Fred Thompson’s wife? CRAWFORD: Oh, yeah.

SCARBOROUGH: You think she thinks she works the pole?

CRAWFORD: That’s what a Hollywood career will do for you, I guess.

SCARBOROUGH: What do you mean?

CRAWFORD: You get wives like that.

SCARBOROUGH: I mean, look at that guy. God bless him, I love his voice. But I mean, you know. He ain’t Robert Redford in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.”

CRAWFORD: Well I would like to see him back into politics because I think he’s a lousy actor.

Sounds to me like a Don Imus show transcript.

What a disappointment! I thought Scarborough once had some real ideas, and class.

It has been said, “only the public mensrooms.”
Not that there is anything wrong with that for an MSNBC hanger on.

There was a lead-in to Imus’s comments about the basketball girls too.

Just because someone plants a stupid idea in your head, doesn’t mean you need to apply it to the next 3 things you talk about.

I still can’t figure out what he was trying to say when he said “do you think she thinks she works the pole”. What is the “she thinks” stuck in the middle for?

Thompson could score himself an enormous jump in the polls if he clocked Scarborough in the face next time he sees him.

************

Scarborough would probably sue, since he clearly has no idea how a real man behaves.

If an old man thinks robbing the cradle makes him look virile—he’s wrong.

She’s a 40-year-old lawyer. He didn’t rob the cradle.

This is only the beginning. I have a feeling that Fred was afraid of this happening and that is why he is so nervous about announcing. I hope this does not bother him because he has not seen anything yet. The Democrats are going to be worse than the Republicans. Politics are ugly which is one reason out of many that I would never want to get into it. Fred I hope is strong enough to handle criticism because it is coming his way. Just the way it is.

I think people with questionable agendas are putting a lot of this garbage about how his wife will be attacked mercilessly during the campaign. I think even the dems are smart enough to recognize how much that will backfire on them if they try it. After all, how much was Laura Bush attacked in 2000? When she was a teenager, she was involved in a car accident that left another girl dead. Somebody mentioned that during the campaign but everybody dropped it almost immediately. It was irrelevant and made anybody trying to exploit it look like a complete @$$hole. Keep in mind that both sides have to appeal to the independents and uncommitteds going into the next election. Making snide comments about the candidate's wife is NOT the way to do that. I think your "concerns" are misplaced.

She was a 34-yr-old lawyer. And it's a charge (silly old fool) Fred supporters will need to have a snappy response to. You're already on the defensive--which is the point I'm trying to make.

It's the snicker factor.

Consider it a test. There's nothing wrong about marrying someone so much much younger, but Freds and Frednecks (maybe I'll be one if he's willing to take up a conservative standard) had better be ready for the snickering. If an old man thinks robbing the cradle makes him look virile--he's wrong. And there'll be a suggestion that he's an old fool trying for a "do over."

**********

Mrs. Thompson is forty, and a woman of some accomplishment.

From Wikipedia:

Thompson married Jeri Kehn, twenty five years his junior, on June 29, 2002 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Naperville, Illinois, having first met her on July 4, 1996.[16] Kehn (born January, 1967) is an attorney and a political media consultant at the Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, and McPherson law firm in Washington, D.C. She had formerly worked for the Senate Republican Conference and the Republican National Committee.

She’s attractive, but the long, lanky hair doesn’t do anything for her, and I don’t particularly care for her taste in clothes. She could take a lesson from Newt’s wife who has a more sophisticated look.

Uh-huh. Well, we’ve got some time to come up with something that doesn’t sound defensive. What will help is Jeri Thompson making some public appearances that don’t involve skin.

The libs will play this up and most American woman, especially those whose husbands left them for someone younger are going to be looking at his wife as the trophy wife and not vote for Fred.
Bye, Bye Fred. It was nice knowing you....

Wow! What an ignorant statement. The women who would be duped by such a tactic are so stupid that they already vote democrat. There are probably some women that vote democrat for whatever reasons that will be offended by the vile attacks on Fred's wife that they will switch to the GOP for this election.

As I stated in a previous post, he is going to have trouble due to the large age difference between him and his wife, and the fact that she looks like a supermodel. That is absolutely not going to play well with middle-aged and elderly women at all, IMO. Having said that, he is most certainly the best of the bunch.

Different tastes I guess. I think she has great looking hair, and appears very vivacious and healthy looking. Her clothes?
Geez, someone that looks like her would look good in anything.
Blue jeans and a T-shirt even!
