Well, speaking strictly for myself, I’m a bit overweight, so I guess I’d opt for half an ass-cheek. But I’d probably develop a list!

Sherman did not have to deal with treasonous media,

Actually, he and President Lincoln did have a lot of treason to deal with, especially Copperheads.

But they had more tools at their disposal then, like suspending habeas corpus.

Any war plan that is based on the notion that Americans will tolerate 70-100 dead per month for 5 years or more is a losing war plan. I hope that was not their plan when we invaded.

Congratulations! You just lost WWII.

It obviously doesn’t make a bit of difference what I think. But this war is going to be over one way or another by the next election. If we can’t win it by then, then we can’t win it.

Buddy, you'd better start studying up on your Koran now and the seven pillars of wisdom. First thing I recommend is learning which way Mecca is so you can start praying to your new Lord and Master.

We ain't gonna win by the next election. We are gonna be fighting murdering Muslims for your whole life.

George has both hat and some cattle for fun and a four wheel drive pickup he’s allowed to drive himself. Oooh-HAH!

A President this hated by cheese surrender monkeys and commie loving Democrats and media brainwashed neutron cons has to have some fun.

And for those you 12 hours behind the newscycle, President Bush has been at the G8 summit in Germany, trying not to be assassinated and to convince them not to pass new improved Kyoto agreement and take our gasoline.

Like I said, I think that middle America will tolerate a long global war on terror. I don’t think they are going to tolerate a long war in Iraq, though. Bush has a couple of years to win it or pull out on his own. If he doesn’t, then Hillary or Obama will pull us out.

And I have to agree with you that the current crop of political pacifists would not have fought WWII.

LOL. As friends like to point out, Bush has proven being born in Connecticut, going to a private high school in Massachusetts, and graduating from Yale in Connecticut means that all you have to do is buy a hat, some cattle, and a pickup, and you can call yourself a Texan or a cowboy.

Unlike Bush, a true Texan like Rick Perry would try and secure our border. As a matter of fact, Perry had this wonderful plan to put web cameras on the border to stop the illegal. Oh wait, umm, nevermind.

I would think it's more important to look at the fact that we have forgotten how to fight in some ways. There's the joke (that is, unfortunately, not always a joke) that we always prepare to fight the last war. The problem we had in Iraq (one of many) is that we didn't go in with overwhelming force (unlike the first Gulf War). It's compounded by the fact that we are going to have a temporary "surge". All that means is that the Al-Q will change their tactics temporarily and many will lay low until the surge is over. This goes back to Bush not boosting the military size-wise after 9/11, something which I will never understand.

We could easily use another 150,000 troops in Iraq and 50,000 in Afghanistan on a permanent basis (there until we leave).
