WASHINGTON (CNN) Former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson has created a fundraising committee that will allow him to begin raising money for a possible presidential campaign, according to Tennessee officials.
Thompson filed papers Friday with the Tennessee Secretary of State creating Friends of Fred Thompson, a state-based corporation that will raise and spend money to gauge interest and support for a possible Thompson White House bid.
Under federal law, prospective candidates are allowed to raise and spend money to test the waters for a bid for federal office without having to create a federal campaign committee. However, once a candidate declares his or her candidacy, the candidate must then go back and report any money raised and spent during the testing the waters phase. These organizations have been called both exploratory and testing the waters committees.

Anyone know if he has a site up yet to accept donations? I couldn’t find one via a web search.
Was looking for an Official Site when I found this. None yet. Still looking.
Good, See ya Rudy.

You can’t have Fred, no one can have Fred. Even I can’t have Fred. Go away!
LOL. Brilliant!
All he’s really doing is giving us a long hard look at the ones slavering for the power of the Presidency. It’s working too. Does he have his shortcomings? Of course, everyone does, but though he may not be perfect, he’s not insane or an out-and-out flaming leftist. Hopefully he’ll jump in and bring Duncan Hunter with him.
At the bottom there’s a disclaimer:
“Not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee “
That’s NOT the official donation site. Those donations go to the Draft Fred site and they have not stated where their funds will go after he announces.
I wish he’d either jump in or stay out. This pussyfooting in the media is getting old.
He is IN and he will announce on July 4th in Nashville. The arrangement have already been made. The wait is over.
Perhaps not, but Zach Wamp is the co-chair of the PAC, so it’s the most official one yet.
Fred AIN’T pussyfooting.........He has a plan and he appears to be sticking to it.
That not only costs Fred money, but it costs his costars and everyone else who earns money from those episodes playing.
He will also have to stop with the radio shows.
Our campaign finance laws would require that the networks give equal time free of charge to each of the other candidates if they run Fred's shows after he declares.
I’m not sure that’s true, they didn’t have to do that for “Bedtime for Bonzo”.
