MEXICANS ARE GOOD PEOPLE
Catholic Messages USA ^ | June. '07 | Vincent Bemowski

Posted on 06/04/2007 1:44:00 AM PDT by servant675

It is very important to remember that unlike Black Americans, bigotry against Mexican Americans is still not being fully addressed.

Amnesty should continue to be part of our approach when attempting to solve our immigration problems with Mexico. The contributions hard-working Mexican Americans make to our society easily wipe out any so-called "free benefits" legal or non-legal immigrants may obtain through local, state, and federal programs.

Unlike some other Americans, many Mexican Americans are good people who possess a deep faith in Almighty God. Therefore they deserve to be treated with compassion & respect. In addition, we should double or triple the number of immigrants allowed on an annual basis with our friends from Mexico.

We must not forget that it is only with great difficulty & through hard work at low-paying jobs few other Americans want that many Mexicans eventually become citizens of the United States. It truly a blessing that so many Mexicans seek the opportunities the USA offers, & we should be honored to receive them in greater numbers into our country.

LOL! Although I must give the author some credit--he managed to express every empty-headed pro-amnesty bromide in one paragraph. Sadly, many see the issue in these superficial, sentimental terms.

He’s right. We’re giving our country away. I’m just glad I don’t have kids.....this country is going to the third world trash.

I would love to ask the author what he thinks the "problem" is. Not enough Mexicans coming in? Perhaps he meant the title to be "Mexicans are good Catholics".

our immigration problems with Mexico.

Yeah, he did at least use the "A"-word.

He's probably a "liturgical expert" at his parish. Catholics like him make me cringe---but I guess I shouldn't pass rash judgements.

O God, protect our country from the idiots within!

There are many conservatives like myself, who feel it is morally wrong not to be compassionate. If you do feel strongly against it, try and express yourselves in a humane manner. Otherwise we all look bad.

Some other FReeper posted the following observation before, but it seems to fit here as well:

The engraving on the headstone of Western Civilization will probably read: "We Didn't Want To Offend..."

Borders and immigration laws exist for reasons which are not contrary to morality and compassion.

"Borders and immigration laws exist for reasons which are not contrary to morality and compassion."

I agree..that is why I want the border fenced off, but I also want the punishment for breaking the law to feed your family to fit the crime.

Wow. Vince is quite the word-gamer, yet another that thinks most people are too dumb to see what he’s trying to pull. I wonder if he knows it himself.

I think you are talking about a different minority...working people don’t covet, they make their own living with sweat.

Prove it.

Every study I've ever seen indicates exactly the opposite.

Are Mexicans good people?
Yes.

Should we continue to allow tens of millions of them to cross our border illegally, cripple our social services and send billions of dollars back to Mexico?
NO!!

...but why doesn’t this catholic site spend some time encouraging Mexicans to fight for change in Mexico?

Oooh, that'd be risky.

This sentence is so idiotic it's physically impossible for me to read past it.

Mexicans are good people, but illegal aliens are criminal invaders no matter what country they are from.

As it has been pointed out, an illegal alien is like your neighbor moving into your nicer home because you live better than he does. That doesn’t mean Americans are bad people, just that invader is.

Maybe we should build a bunch of these.

Deport the workers and their families will follow.

If they then want to come back LEGALLY, no problem.

From a former post of mine:

Are mexicans exempt from the Tenth Commandment?

I should have said illegal mexicans.

So now as long as they are working the Tenth Commandment is ignored? The bible never advocated stealing goods and services from one's neighbor.

However, do you not see them crossing our border and utilizing the services intended for citizens and legal alien as coveting?

Those people like Rush L, whom I mostly adore, have no idea what it’s like to have a family to feed and no way to provide. Any hard working person here, faced with starving children, would do the same.

Expecting others to provide for your starving children, continually increasing the number of starving children you produce but can't afford, and not properly raising the starving children you already have - through neglect, non-assimilation, poor moral examples - those are not characteristics of "good people".

I welcome Mexicans who want to become Americans, who don't take public handouts, who live by the laws, who take care of their kids. They're definitely "good people" and they add to America.

I spurn Mexicans who come here "yearning to eat free", who flout the laws, have ragamuffin kids who become criminals and who could care less about America. They're parasites and should be ejected along with their anchor babies.

They’d be even better people if they were still in Mexico.
