We’ll need about fifty dozen cubic miles of concrete and steel to harden our infrastructure against touching by journalists.

that idea would make unemployment abotu 1%...but would bring in a slew of illegals to do it on time!

and is so exposed that a reporter could simply walk up and touch the pipe

Just one more example as to why, when it comes to terrorism, "the best defense is a good offense".

There is simply no way for the U.S. to protect and secure all of its vital infra-structure. No matter how many bridges, buildings, tunnels, pipelines, refineries, fuel terminals, chemical processing plants and railyards are secure 24/7 there will always be more that aren't.

Anybody who might suggest that "we're better off fighting them here than there" is either a.) ignorant or b.) on the wrong side.

Which is why it would be far easier to keep the muslims from coming into the country and keep the number in here as low as possible so we can keep an eye on them, rather than trying to put in place prohibitively expensive and impossible security measures around the uncountable number of soft targets in each of the 50 states.

Our security is a joke, period.

Counter terrorism, Shrub style:

My fellow Americans, You are the first line of defense against terrorism. If you see anything suspicious, notify law enforcement immediately.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

We will then dismiss you as a hysteric and publicly humiliate you for your good-faith efforts. We will probably even lie about the incident to make you look more foolish. If you don't believe me, just ask Annie Jacobson. Chertoff and company screwed her over real good for reporting terrorist activity.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to helping millions of illegal aliens destroy the country. Any who oppose me are nativist, racist, un-patriotic bigots who kick puppies and love terrorists.

"Pipelines can usually be repaired and put back into operation within a matter of days."

It's not the pipe, dumbass, it's what in the pipe. It amazes me more and more that something dwarfing 9/11 didn't happen long before 9/11. Jeez.

Oh, sorry. I’ll have to get that in there next time I post that, and I’ll be posting it often. Shrub must be held to account for his lies.

The best protection for things like pipelines, railways, bridges etc is at the border....or it would be if we protected our borders.

The thing with pipelines is that you generally can’t get enough oxygen to the fuel to create the kind of explosion that the MSM wanted at the NY airport. It can make a big fire, but in one place.

Disrespect for the President of the United States is the hallmark of the Leftie crybabies and miscreants. We can do without that here.

You people are coming out of the woodwork lately...I am plenty mad about the amnesty bill, but I won’t call my President names. It’s juvenile and beneath me.

Absolutely.

I bet I could find 50 vulnerable infrastructure points within 10 miles of my home.

Not to mention that every crowd is by definition a target.

Buy small aircraft with big wings that will glide for a while on a descent.

Load to max with explosives and shrapnel or whatnot.

Get close to Philly, BWI, or any other major airport. Cut engine and glide into fuel storage tanks.

NOTHING our DHS has done, so far as we know, has actually hardened the targets that airports are. There are still illegals working with access cards that give them access to areas the public cannot get to. There are no preventive mechanisms in place to prevent a large fuel fire, etc.

Instead we get WWII vets being strip-searched on Memorial Day and nice old grannies who have to take their shoes off.

It can make a big fire, but in one place.

And then you have to call Red Adair or John Wayne to blow it out. :)

I know - it wasn't something like a detonation I was worried about. The one thing I would worry about is, once it was ignited, it might not take much for it to rupture in several areas along the line. That much combustible material would make for a blaze that would stretch for God knows how far, and it would pretty much be at max intensity the second it went off - no smoke or other warning to alert anyone to get the hell out of Dodge. And it would be a real beast to get under control, I bet.
